Customer Reviews

The center of gravity over the front wheels makes it easy to dump out loads.

I don't use it to carry anything heavy - just wheeling all the garden tools around the yard to make things easier - and it works great for this.

I logged on to buy another one and saw that the cart had a lifetime warranty.

I bought this wagon six or seven years ago when I first bought my home. I used it to landscape my backyard--sand, sod, pine bark, compost, plants, you name it. Last week the wheel fell off. I logged on to buy another one and saw that the cart had a lifetime warranty. I found the Ames website, got the customer service number and called. I told them my wheel fell off and the front had been duct-taped for years. The person on the line spoke English, and he was polite and helpful. He asked me a few basic questions, and then asked for my address so he could have a new unit shipped to me. I am actually shocked that there is a company that honors its warranty. I strongly suggest this wagon and this company.

Addendum

My cart actually arrived today.

I just picked one of these up at Home Depot for $37, and that's their regular price! Don't pay over $100 for this, as it is here. It is a very nice cart, though -- quite stable and handy, although the wheels are somewhat cheap looking (hard plastic, not rubber). I don't think the wheels are a real drawback, though...they get the job done.

My wife just read this review and thought to herself and said, "That thing had a bunch of major problems". It kind of did.

For me, this cart was a replacement for the 3 cu ft Easy Roller Jr which was absolutely super but got smashed by a falling tree.

You should buy this because you can maneuver it with one hand. You don't have to lift the back end up all the time. This makes for smoother handling, but the wheels in the back will wear down over time if you don't lift while turning. Let's say your wife has the light end (the end with the little wheels) and you have the heavy end and you are carrying it into the house full of firewood. When your wife sets her end down and there's still a bit of momentum in the load, the back is not going to leave a scuff. So you don't have to be so careful.

Now, about the flaw. What happened? I just got this thing like 2 weeks ago and I have barely used it. I know how to treat it because I'v used one lots of times before. I've stored it outside and it has gotten cold here lately, but I am really stretching there. Maybe this was freak accident. I didn't even see it break, but I brought it into the basement just fine, loaded it with like 10 shovels full and on the way out I noticed it was broken. Perhaps when it had the three 4' 2x6's maybe it landed on it's handle. So, improper loading, tipping, hills, whatever. So why buy it again?

Well maybe it's because I am crafty and was able to repair it. "Repair plastic", you ask? Yes, just because it broke right where it did. Right at your left thumb if you were to operate it. How I fixed it is no miracle. I got my Dremel out and put in a sheet-rock bit and cut away the now excess supporting material inside the center of the handle.

I needed a cart to haul away gravel from my old tar and gravel roof that I was stripping off. Gravel is very heavy, with each load half-way filled up easily being over a hundred pounds. I wasn't sure what type of cart to get, but knew I wanted four wheels and not having steel would be nice for long term longevity against rust. I was able to find the Ames cart at a local major home improvement store. The Ames cart is very lightweight when empty, which makes it a breeze to maneuver around. When loaded with the gravel, it was strong never once getting damaged. Roofing project is well over now and since then I've used this cart all the time to haul bags of rubbish to bringing in cases of soda from the car! Only downside are the wheels being pure plastic. This makes rolling resistance harsh and noisy on paved surfaces. Would be better if it had pneumatic wheels. But as I mentioned, the plastic wheels were plenty strong.

Nice idea, but the plastic cracked in multiple places. Simply unable to handle anything other than light loads at warm temperatures.

I needed something to help me move the heavy sand here in Florida, landscaping our new home. In addition, I came to depend on it to move just about anything else...plants, pots, etc. At one point, a wheel broke. I called Ames and they sent a new wheel immediately. After two years of almost daily use, moving and dumping heavy sand did the mover in....the front cracked. Repairs just didn't work. When researching for a replacement, I noticed that the Ames Mover had a lifetime warranty! I mada a call to Ames and was sent a new Mover. The phone call was about three minutes long...Ames was great. All they wanted to know was my address. I would recomend this product for the warranty feature alone.

This cart is sturdy & durable. I first got one at Home Depot. I used it for carrying broken limbs, dirt & everything to catching water rushing off my roof. I love it because it is light enough for me to lift & dump out the weeds, timber & debrie. I ordered another from Amazon as they no longer carried the same one at Home Depot & I liked having 4 wheels so I didn't have the load by pulling it on two. The only reason I replaced it was, I would DUMP out the stuff & slam it too hard & I cracked the bottom. I still use it, but the crack at the bottom kept me from catching the water when it rained & I use it each time it rains, so I ordered a 2nd one. Sometimes I use BOTH! I didn't have the instructions to add Slats of wood in the sides until I got the new one from Amazon.com. It helped me a lot to be able to get more into the cart! IT'S GREAT!!
