5.0 out of 5 stars Great Axe
I have owned this axe for over a year now and used it to split at least 5 cords of wood. I have never had any problems with the shaft splitting and or the head coming loose. I have gotten it stuck in some knotted wood and actually hit it with a sledge to drive it through the wood and still never had any problems at all with it even after that. The handle is curved for...

I bought this axe ignorantly based on price, I used it twice, axe handle shattered and head went flying, the tang of the axe head goes approx. 2 inches below where you can see - it is poorly made and would definitely not recommend.

3.0 out of 5 stars Think twice, August 6, 2011

Let me start off by saying that i like this axe, i like the way it feels and it doesnt slip from the hand, the only problem i have has is that the head is soft so it requires sharpening often. Would i buy this axe if i had to do it all over again, simply put no. Look for another axe unless your alright to sharpen all the time or put a new heat treatment on it.

I used to own one of these. The head is made of soft metal so it needs to be sharpened frequently. The abrupt hook at the end of the handle is a nice feature that eliminates a flying axe even when your hands get tired and sweaty. The handle broke out after only a couple of years of use. In fairness, I am demanding of an axe. I used this model mostly on black locust which is torture on an axe. If I remember correctly, the handle is wooden with a plastic cover. Your money is better spent on a Fiskars in my opinion.

I have gotten it stuck in some knotted wood and actually hit it with a sledge to drive it through the wood and still never had any problems at all with it even after that. The handle is curved for a more comfortable grip. I would highly recommend.
