Have used a couple of roof rakes over the years and this is the best yet. Most of them feel flimsy and flexible - it's the nature of the beast - they must be to be lightweight. This works as well as any, and is priced fairly. AND...it is NOT made in China! Shipped quickly.

I've had this hard to find item for the last month, throughout the blizzards of January of 2011, here in Connecticut. So far in one month I've had over 80 inches of snow in the NE hills. I couldn't be more pleased with this item. I've used it dozens of times and dozens of hours. I've used it on snow from 4 inches to 24 inches and it never failed to amaze me at its performance.

Pros: Easy to assemble. Performs great. Very strong. With all extensions making it 16.5 feet long it will bow-out but is very capable of supporting the full length with no problems. If it were heavier in design it would be impossible to hold out at the full length.

Cons: None.

I had about 2 feet of medium packed snow on the roof of my tall two story house. This roof rake with all extensions just barely touched the edge of the roof when I held it way up over my head. I needed to deal with the snow problem quick and no local stores had other roof rakes so I bought another identical roof rake and used the poles together. I was using up to six poles! It was very bendy. I could just barely raise it with four poles and then could add the others and needed to remove them before taking the rake down. It was an exercise in frustration and it was very hard to control, but I did get a lot of snow off the roof from way up high. I clearly pushed this product way above what it was designed to do and it did do the job. I think I will get another roof rake that is more heavy duty and is designed for 30 feet. If you have a one story house, I think you may be fine with this, but keep in mind it is not that long. Do your measurements first. If you have a two story house and if you are a bit nuts with no other options, try two together.... :)

After some research I decided on this product and have been very happy with it. It is a weight and a length that does the job without making it too taxing. When opening the box I was concerned about the durability. After using it 10+ this winter I have had no problems.

I have never wrote a bad review for any product or restaurant, until now. Major issues with this:
1, Did not arrive with all the required bolts and screws
2. The pipe that connects to the shovel part, did not fit. The only way to get it to fit, was to hammer the other end, which resulted in that end not fitting into the other pipes.
After 2 hours of MaGyvering the rake together (I am good at putting things together), I was able to use it. It regularly comes apart. I have to buy a new one!!!!

Assembly is straightforward, but difficult to insert angled portion of handle into blade: File the outer edge of the aluminum tubing to make sure there are no burrs. Next place it next to the socket on the blade and line up the holes; mark the tubing in line with the bolt hole and where it is flush with the outer edge of the socket. Now when you push it in it will be obvious how far you need to push it in until the bolt holes will line up. I used one of these on our greenhouse with just one handle; with the full 16 1/2 foot length, and my arms extended I can reach to the top of our bucket truck garage. It has a 12' ceiling and 14' from the peak to the eaves.
