worked great last year...,
This review is from: Ames True Temper 1680000 Size 12 Grain Hog Scoop (Lawn & Patio)
This shovel worked great last year. Shovels a ton of snow quick regardless of ergonomics. However the reason I am writing this review is I just broke it straight down the middle. There was only an inch of snow outside and I was just walking along pushing some snow in front of out house door and it snapped with one hand pushing. Guess I will go metal next time.

Bought two of these shovels for snow removal. I used them regularly for shoveling steps and walk ways. They work great. Because of the large scoop size, it can handle heavy snow. This shovel is not something you would use to clear large areas of snow. A push shovel would be much better. I would definitely recommend them for which they were designed. Note: I had an aluminum version before and it lasted at least ten years. Plastic works better on rough surfaces where aluminum would scratch, cut or gouge a wooden type surface

We had 5' of snow this year. These shovels are light, strong and carry a nice size scoop of snow. Been using them for years and these were bought for neighbors. Order was shipped fast and delivered in good condition, plus the price was great.

We've had a miserable winter here in New York City with snow and ice on a regular basis. This has allowed me to use the shovel extensively.
Good news... the shovel is lightweight and easy to use BUT also extremely durable. Even with ice, the scoop remains in excellent condition. I'm very happy with this purchase!

This is a nice snow shove. Well balanced and with a quick coat of WD40, I was tossing snow effortlessly. That said when it came
down to the ice on the concrete I switched to an old metal shovel. Days later I did use it to clean the gutter of stuff. I did scrape the concrete and asphalt but no signs of damage. Plan to get the metal version soon.

I have had this shovel for years and have used it for more things around my home than you can imagine. It took the last big storm of this winter and an overly frustrated shoveller to finally break it. I did not hesitate to replace it with another. I used Amazon because all the stores in the East were out of snow shovels. Ames is one of those companies that proves American-made can be better!

Have owned one for years, bought more for dad and business. Just the best thing for moving snow - light, durable.

When You Need to Shovel a Lot of It,

The True Temper shovel did the trick for me. I needed a high volume delivery shovel to move the large amounts of leaves that fall from my 150 year old oak tree. The shovel holds four times more than the ones I already owned.
The quality seemed good at first. Now I notice that after owning it for one month and using it 3 times to shovel leaves, the plastic D handle is cracked. Not a sign of good quality. Also, I cannot see any indication of where it was made. Suspect it is of Chinese origin. Easy John

I bought this shovel last fall to use as a snow shovel. I pulled it out of my shed last night for an upcoming snow and it had a 6" crack down the center of the scoop. I never used it! I'm going to contact True Temper and see what they have to say for their poor quality product. Don't waste your time and money on this shovel.

Horrible Plastic quality,

I bought this last year after being caught off guard by a freak snow here in Washington. It took me all day to locate this one. I used it the one time and maybe once during the summer. I pulled it out yesterday to shovel the snow we got up here in the great northwest and it had a huge split right down the back of the shovel head. I made it 10 feet before it snapped off. Were am I going to find a snow shovel during a snow storm. I should have know better than buying something like a plastic shovel made in China. I guess part of this is my fault. I will be looking for a steel American made coal shovel for my snow shoveling duties.
