PLASTIC SCOOP,

Plastic is plastic. This isn't a metal snow shovel. I wouldn't recommend too much heavy snow lifting with this thing, so it doesn't bust. But, it does lift a big sccop of snow off the deck. Don't scrape or try to break ice with it. Using it on concrete wears it out and chews up parts of the blade. It is easy to maneuver, due to the handle.

Two quick things, it's actually an "Artic Blast" shovel if you are looking for more descriptions online. Mine is blue too for any that care about that. It's a great shovel very similar to the "Grain Hog" in style (1680000). However, maybe I misread the description, but I thought it had a detachable handle so I could fit it in my trunk easier. It doesn't, but if you are looking for a sturdy snow shovel and don't need a detachable handle this one is great. Worth the money!Just a hint too I learned from one of my professors. Spray a little Pam on it before using. Snow slides right off!

I ordered the shovel (scoop) as described on Amazon. What I received was a blue True Temper Arctic Blast model. The business end of the shovel has a slight curve to it (as opposed to a flat even edge), which means that it may not make even contact with the surface being shovelled and will likely wear more at the outside ends. If I had seen this on display in a store, I would have moved on to the next one.

Most excellent shovel,

This shovel is wonderful!! It moves tons of snow in a single scoop yet is very light. I am 5 feet tall and 62 years old and had no trouble clearing my 1/8th mile gravel driveway during the recent storms in Maryland. It took only about an hour to remove 15 inches of snow from the drive. I got the shovel because I had borrowed my neighbor's (who are from CT) in the previous storm and was amazed how much snow could be moved with each scoop. Now I wish I had gotten 2; one for the hubby!

The heavier grain scoop is better,

I had been using Ames' grain scoop, but it was heavy, so ordered this. The lightweight poly made be easier to lift with a scoop full of heavy snow, but you spend more time and effort as the center of this scoop does NOT lie flat. It humps up a little so that your cleaning swath has a 3-5 inch "missed" area in the middle. And you can't leave that missed part because it's just enough that it makes a strip of ice if you do. I went back to the grain shovel.

Right # wrong picture for shovel,

This review is from: Ames True Temper 1681500 Snozone Snow Scoop Poly Shovel (Lawn & Patio)
The shovel i received is blue not the color as in picture and the blade end part is con-caved (not flat to ground) about 1/4" from center out to ends that touch. Also there is no markings on the shovel anywhere of 'Ames True Temper'? Just a shovel w/a sticker on it weird. So i called them and they will be sending one out to me to replace for defective product that was sent. Size of shovel is 14-1/4" x 18-1/4" (scoop) 5" X 4" (D-handle) 44-3/4" (Height) Thx Ames for the support =)Update:(3/10/2011) Got my snow shovel from True Temper & it is the same as Amazon's shovel. The blade end is still bowed up they are looking into it. Also put a picture of it from there site of Real shovel you will get.

I ordered this snow shovel on 2/15/2010. As of 3/21/2010, I have yet to receive it. I doubt I will order anything from Amazon again.
