The Amflo 510HR-RET automatic open hose reel with red rubber air hose is a fully-assembled automatic air hose reel that comes with a red rubber air hose that is 25 ft. long and has a 3/8" ID. The reel, constructed of steel components, can be mounted on a wall, floor, or ceiling, and its guide arm is adjustable for dispensing the air hose at various angles. It has a spring-wound auto-rewind mechanism that can be activated with a slight pull on the hose, and a locking ratchet brake that holds a desired length of hose in place when drawn by the user. Its internal fittings have a maximum pressure rating of 250 pounds per square inch (psi). The hose is constructed of rubber that resists abrasion when dragged across rough surfaces, functions effectively at temperatures ranging from -20 to +165 degrees F, has a maximum pressure rating of 300 psi, and is fitted with a rubber stopper that prevents the hose from slipping through the guide arm during retraction. The assembly comes equipped with a 1/4" factory-installed brass male National Pipe Thread Taper (NPT) tool-end fitting on the main length of hose, and a 1/4" brass female NPT fitting on the end of the included, factory-installed lead-in hose for the air supply. This hose and reel assembly is suitable for a wide range of commercial and industrial pneumatic tool applications.
Industrial hoses transfer or convey air or liquid in hose systems. When selecting industrial hoses, use the STAMPED method:
S = Size (ID, OD, and length)
T = Temperature (maximum and minimum temperatures of material being transported)
A = Application (industry or process)
M = Material (to be conveyed, type and concentration)
P = Pressure (maximum working pressure)
E = Ends (type of end connectors or couplings on hose)
D = Delivery method (volume and velocity)

I needed more hose, so put a 40' hose on it and
wound the spring back a few more turns, so it would
recoil the entire 40'.
I saw reviews about the included template being a bit off, but because we were using the 'wall mount' position (comes preset at the ceiling mount position) on a beam, we had to take the base off anyhow. We held the bracket up there, marked the bottom two, drilled them out, put the lag screws in (not included), put the bracket back up there, marked the top two holes and drilled then. Everything mounted like a champ. If you're taking the bracket off and then installing the reel w/ the bracket on the wall it definitely can be easier with 2 people.
The tension was great right out of the box. The only modification we did was adjusting the stopper and where it hangs off the ceiling, so it's out of the way yet easy to grab. Keep in mind that you do exercise care when spooling because when it's coming back in it has to be held otherwise it will pick up speed and the bracket you can tell isn't made to withstand that kind of force. We just did a simple test, without letting it go the whole distance back in, to see how it handled that, should an accident happen.
Overall, I'm excited to have this for my small home shop. I believe a small mechanic's shop could use this as well. The quality is there, in my opinion.

If you buy this hose reel you will have to go get some brass fittings to change the connection sizes. It is not meant for 1/4 inch NPT fittings. Read morePublished 9 months ago by Lance R.
Unit seems study and well built, I haven't installed it yet because it doesn't have 1/4" NPT ends as described on here. Read morePublished 11 months ago by Anthony Kohler
