Three Amigos soundtrack!, October 14, 2006
This review is from: Three Amigos Original Motion Picture Soundtrack (Audio CD)
If you are fan of the movie then listening to this helps you relive the experience. The soundtrack includes singing from Chevy Chase, Steve Martin, and Martin Short which is actually really good. A couple songs were written by Randy Newman. Then there is the wonderful classic western
score by Elmer Bernstein. After reading the liner notes I found out he scored classic westerns like the Magnificant Seven and John Wayne movies as well. My only complaint is some of the scores are too short, like under 3 minutes. I wish they let them go a bit longer because they flow so well. My 2 favorites on this are the "My little Buttercup" and "Blue Shadows" both well made and funny.

All the great songs from the movie: "My Little Buttercup", "Blue Shadows on the Trail", and of course "Ballad of the Three Amigos".
If you're a fan of the movie, just get it!

A Terrific Film Score, May 12, 2009
This review is from: Three Amigos Original Motion Picture Soundtrack (Audio CD)
The music is so fitting for this send-up of just about every black hat / white hat western ever made (with a particular nod to "The Magnificent Seven"), that to not have it for your collection of "Music for the Movies" is a real loss.
Randy Newman, as always in his film work, did great things for this movie, and had his tongue planted firmly in his cheek in reworking an old Roy Rogers tune, "Blue Shadows on the Trail"; yet the little cowboy lullaby grabs your heartstrings to be sure.
"My Little Buttercup" is a great little throwaway but should be seen as well as heard to be fully appreciated.
