Review

Amigurumi Two! by Ana Paula Rimoli is a follow-up to Rimoli's Amigurumi World. Popularized by Japanese girls, amigurumi is the craft of crocheting tiny, adorable toys. Projects include a airplane, a bird mobile, a teddy bear in a hot-air balloon, a momma turtle, her eggs, and the babies that hatch from them, fish, squirrels, tigers, robots, bumble bees, peas in a pod, mushrooms that look uncannily similar to Super Mario 1-Ups, a tea set, cookies, and more. --Knitting Book Roundup by Alyse Wax

More About the Author

Hola, I'm Ana Paula Rimoli, Oli (8) & Martina's (5) mom :) They are the inspiration for all the toys I make, and the ones that do the quality control ;)
I love love love crocheting and making toys. I've been making stuff for as long as I can remember, and I have to thank my neighbor Marta in Montevideo, Uruguay, for teaching me how to crochet when I was little, I think 6 or 7, sitting outside one Summer.
Now I have all these dumb dreams of crocheting endless "group effort" afghans or huge families of toys with my girls... I hope they'll like it!
Happy crocheting, and thank you for stoping by!
xoxo
Ana

I bought the first book by Ana Paula Rimoli and I liked it, but this book I LOVE! The patterns are adorable! There are some fantastic ideas in here. There is a baby mobile, a stroller toy, and baby rattle toys...robots!!! The pieces de résistance is a birthday cake to crochet!

The patterns are still pretty easy to follow so if you are a beginner you can easily do most of these projects. Most of them are very quick to crochet too. I just got this book the other night and with the yarn I had on hand I was able to do the small koala.

I like how there are a variety of projects in here and not just different animals to crochet. I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves to crochet and would like to do a small craft project this is one of the best books out there.

Rimoli has an esty website and a blog you can take a look at some of her other patterns not available in either of her books. If you can only buy one of Rimoli's books I would recommend this book over her other amigurumi book (unless you like the animals better in the other book) just b/c there is more variety of projects in this book whereas the other book just has animals to crochet. Awesome book!

Ana Paula's adorable designs and simple patterns make it easy for even a beginning/intermediate crocheter to produce fun, artful amis in just a few days. Her first book, "Amigurumi World", helped me rediscover crochet, which I learned about 20 years ago. Inspired by the designs in this book, my own daughters, 9 and 7, are learning to crochet from me! This is a great project book to share with your family. "Amigurumi Two" does have more complicated patterns than the first book, so be sure you have enough practice before attempting this series. BTW, I made the birthday cake for my son's 3rd birthday last week, and he loves it! You won't be disappointed.

This is my first review...I have bought alot of books from Amazon and a lot of craft books, but this is one of the best I've gotten. Very simple to follow, great and easy to follow patterns, good pictures. And the animals and toys are just TOOO cute! If you like to crochet and you like to make little toys, you've got to get this book! Worth it!

This book has a lot of great projects that are really cute. However there are some things to be aware of. First of all when you are working on a project that requires you to decrease several successive rows if you follow the intructions in the book you will end up with lines in your work. The pictures in the book don't show the lines so they must have been following a different pattern. You can fix this problem and still use the patterns by varying the pattern in which you decrease. For example when you are making the Peas when you get to the sc5, decrease and repeat 6 times, the following row you wouldn't start with sc4 as the book tells you to, instead you would sc1 or sc2 or even sc3 followed by the pattern: decrease, sc4 until the end of the row, ending with as many sc as it takes to make up for the in the beginning pattern. Then you could go back to the books directions for the next row and switch it up again for the row after that. (Hope that wasn't too confusing. The point being that you can't repeat in succession like that without having it show in your work) Second there are no directions to make the handle for the teacup. Third, I tried the pattern for the flower mobile also and the directions do not match the pattern in the picture. The grain of the work is different if you follow the books directions. I agree with the other person that gave this book three stars that it needed more instructions on how to attach pieces together. It would have been good if someone would have re-worked these patterns using the book to check for mistakes before the book was published.

I'd pretty much just started learning how to crochet and wanted to learn to make amigurumi. Her pattern's are easy to read and pretty uncomplicated. Definitely worth it.

I had purchased Ana Rimoli's first Amigurumi book to learn how to crochet and loved it, then when her second book came out I bought it as well. She explains the directions very well on how to create these cute little items. I have looked at many other crochet books and the directions haven't been as good yet more confusing. This Amigurumi book has cute ideas that make great gifts. I can't wait until she comes out with another book. The only item I have made from this book so far is the Large Fish which turned out really cute. Looking forward to making more items from this book. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who currently knows how to crochet or is a beginner wanting to learn.

I liked her first book very much. This one has more critters to add to my collection. The ones I think I'll make first are the robots and the turtle. I'm diappointed there aren't more animals as I don't care to make cakes and things. One good pointer here is that the author is a tight crocheter and you really need to get your gauge tight so the filling doesn't show. Recommended.
