rare, haunting, and authentic,
This review is from: Amish Music: Hymns to Harmonica (Audio CD)
The Amish don't allow photos and sound recording. I live right in the middle of Amish country and we know that. When they have church at my neighbor's I can hear them sing. The music on this CD sounds like the real thing because it is the real thing. I don't know where else to get that on the market. The English songs here such as "When the day is ended" and "Daddy's hands" are sung my Old Order Mennonites who drive buggies instead of cars and almost look like the Amish and think pretty much like them. I'm told that in church they sound much the same but sing faster. I heard this music used on Bill Moyer's Journal on PBS and on NPR's On Point.

Want to experience music within the Amish community? This includes both secular and sacred pieces. It is well done and a treat to the ears.
