4.0 out of 5 stars feasting the beast..., January 30, 2004
This review is from: Amon - Feasting the Beast (Audio CD)
Makes you want go out and hit something. You can see how far the band came from this album to it newer ones. Best track would have to be "Dead by Dawn". The album is very fast and hard pounding. Glen's voice was alot different, he still didnt have that harsh blood in your throat sound that he has now..but a must have for any metal head...

Deicide is one of the best, if not the best American death metal band. When we listen to a Deicide album we expect to hear polished God-hating lyrics delivered with a veil of blast beats and over-distorted guitar. Amon: Feasting the Beast gives us a little listen to the side of Deicide that we are not that familiar with. For the first time we can hear Deicide as a raw unpolished noise making juggernaut. This is what Deicide sounded like before they got the expensive studio overhaul and whatever else. Scarificial Suicide is heard as it was never heard before but still stands out as the best song on this CD.
This album is recommended to all hardcore Deicide fans and also to all the fans of Death Metal who prefer their music as they prefer their meat: raw and bloody.

5.0 out of 5 stars Demonstration Of Pure Evil, August 19, 2003
This review is from: Amon - Feasting the Beast (Audio CD)
This is not the third studio album by Deicide but it's the third release by the band. That's because they had been getting thousands of letters from fans who wanted to know how to get a copy of the band's 2 only made and only existing demos that they put out before getting signed. The names of these demos were the Sacrificial demo and the Feasting The Beast demo and they were made when the band was under the name Amon. Those letters that the band was getting prompted this release. You can find out more informtion on this by reading the album's liner notes. Anyway, I brought this album only a day after buying the first album and Legion. I bought this along with Morbid Angel's Covenent all on cassette and despite the album not being another studio album, it's definitely a classic bar none. This album is comprised of the 2 demos which contains just about all the songs that would eventially be on the first album with the exeception of Mephistopheles and Deicide. Also, there is a song named Oblivious To Nothing which would be on the first album as Oblivious To Evil. Those are the only differences between the first album and this one.

Now it's time for review. The songs here are different and alike in some ways from the versions on the first album. The songs on the Sacrificial demo sound a little like those from the first album but they're a lot more heavier, more brutal and more raw and you will tell just by comparison. The songs on the Feasting The Beast demo are pretty heavy but they sound a lot more evil, almost black metal as in Mayhem and Bathory but many times better and more death metal. Some of my favorite versions here are Dead By Dawn, Sacrificial Suicide, Day Of Darkness and Oblivious To Nothing. So buy this album and take the ride into the days of early brutal death metal evil. You'll enjoy it.
