Amor De Guitarra is a Masterpiece,
By A Customer
This review is from: Amor De Guitarra (Audio CD)
I am always impressed and delighted with every new Armik recording and his latest release, Amor De Guitarra is a masterpiece. I think it is his best yet! I am fascinated by the level of technique and his amazing style of song writing in every one of his recordings. But that is what is expected of a true artist which is very rare in the current music scene. Armik is a true genius and it is a blessing and a privilege to hear the magic and the passion of his music. As for the comment that this recording is a copy of his other recordings: You couldn't be more wrong. Armik doesn't need to rehash from his previous melodies. The track, Fiesta is nothing like Gypsy Flame and the arpeggios being referred to are called improvise. And what is the comment about the Mexican ranchera rhythms and the Greek/Middle Eastern? OH Please get your facts straight. How many songs can one person write in the key of D minor? The answer is, millions if you have the knowledge and know what you're doing. While purchasing a CD does not qualify anyone to become a musicologist but you can tell beautiful music when you hear one and Amor De Guitarra is simply breath-taking and beautiful music. It does not take courage to write unfair, misleading and inaccurate reviews for an artist like Armik. But it is admiring to create magnificent music the way Armik does. Keep up the great work Armik. Your talent is undeniable. Amor De Guitarra is highly recommended for any music lover and it is a must for any Armik fan.

The Flower's Fragrance Begins To Fade,
By Robert Harding (Mobile, Alabama) - See all my reviews

I've enjoyed Armik's music since his first recording. His blend of modern flamenco spiced with Greek/Middle Eastern melodies makes him unique among the "nuevo flamenco" crowd. However, with this newest release, Armik's wonder fingers are now starting to lose their way. Most of the melodies here are, frankly, rehashed from previous works. For example, Armik's trademark blazing arpeggios on "Fiesta" are copied exactly--even in the same key--from his previous song, "Gypsy Flame" (though this time with Mexican ranchera rhythms interwoven in the composition). In addition, it is becoming evident that for all Armik's technical prowess, he is somewhat limited in his creativeness (how many songs can one person write in the key of D minor?) If you already own Armik's other recordings, then you really already own this one as well.

Hi, music fans!First things first. If you are a music fan, you have to have this Armik album. No matter what kind of music you like, no matter if you are a fan of flamenco, jazz, pop, heavy metal, rock, reggae, or whatever else, you have to have this album. It is yet another great album from the greatest musician ever: Armik. In fact, this is album no. "8" in almost as many years from this guitar virtuoso. This album has everything: spellbinding melodies, dazzling guitar play, sumptuous arrangements, intoxicating rhythms and catchy beats. All the songs are in a class of their own. Fiesta is an upbeat song that starts off with a trumpet intro. Armik plays this fast tempo song while retaining the emotional beauty of the melody, a feat that is not easily achieved. Midnight Bolero is one of those highly passionate and deeply romantic songs that make you close your eyes and drift away. It is one of those heart-breaking numbers that heighten the sense of our own frailty and mortality. Don't listen to this if you are the emotional type. Armik is not going to be responsible for any adverse consequences. Fragile Hearts sounds a little bit like early Spanish music. To me, at times it sounds as if it has been played on a classical guitar by Armik rather than a flamenco one. Armik plays some real fiery riffs in this song. Montego Bay is a very refreshing number. It is the kind of song that you should listen to early in the morning. It is guaranteed to wake you up and in the right sort of way. Romancero is a real beauty. The melody is very, very intoxicating. It doesn't sound like anything that has been composed in the present. It seems as if Armik has taken us back in time, maybe to the sixties if not earlier. I don't know how else to put it but it has very noir feel. Find out yourself. Just A Dream is track number 7 on this album. If you put a gun to my head and cocked the hammer and started to pull the trigger, I would choose this song to be the best of the album. It is so sweet, so sugary, so romantic, so dreamy. Whenever I listen to this song, the first thing that hits me is its incredible sweetness. This song should have come with a warning that people on a diet should refrain from listening to it. But then how can you stay away from something so enticing. Gypsy Cafe' sounds completely out of this world. The melody is like the wild wind. It makes you want to drop everything and take a long cross-country hike with nothing but a backpack (and your discman, of course). It is a very exotic song and beautiful as nature itself in its purest form. As always, the last song is a guitar solo. The artistry of Armik is fully evident here, mesmerizing stuff. This album is yet another feather in the cap of Armik The Genius. My personal title for Armik is THE KING OF PASSION. This album only confirms why Armik alone deserves this title in the world of music. All the Armik albums are true gems. I have listened to them thousands of times and I still haven't been able to decide which is the best among them. They are all so unique and thrilling. Armik fans, if you have something to share about Armik's music. Drop me a line. We love you, Armik. Long Live The King!

This CD is only different from his other CDs by the front painting. The music is the same. It seems that he keeps recording the same music over and over. I am glad I did not buy it. Instead I bought a new CD by Vicente Amigo on AMAZON.COM

One of Armik's Lesser Efforts,

There are only three songs from this cd that I like - "Amor de Guitarra", "Fiesta"' and "Midnight Bolero". Other than those three songs, none of the others do anything for me. Unless you're really addicted to Armik, this cd isn't worth buying.

Portrait of Beauty,
By A Customer
This review is from: Amor De Guitarra (Audio CD)
Armiks second release on Bolero Records "Amor de Guitarra" is a collection of beautiful latin and jazz motifs that are colored with the passion of Armiks sensuous guitar playing ability. "Amor De Guitarra" keeps with the spirit of his previous recordings, focusing mainly on infectious latin rhythms and jazz flavoured lyricl progressions. However, within Armik's new album there is an extreme sense of realism. His music seems to paint a portrait of many stories, dealing with themes of love, desire, and serenity. Technically, Armik's solo motifs are impressive, as they seem to float from his fingers with no difficulty. Armik makes even the most technically challenging flamenco/jazz progressions sound simple. This album is truely a must for any nouveau flamenco fan and anyone who loves the power of romance and the beautiful sound of the flamenco guitar. On "Amor De Guitarra", Armik provides a voice for the flamenco guitar that everyone should take the time to listen to.
