5.0 out of 5 stars THAT'S WHY I'M A LATIN MUSIC LISTENER!!!
Well, at first it seemed impossible for me. I thought I'd never have an official Amor A La Mexicana copy. In my country the CD is not on sale. When I saw it on amazon, I jumped on it (with En Extasis CD).

Listening to this CD made me feel as if first time listening to Thalia again. This album is the reason why a person should listen to LATIN MUSIC...

3.0 out of 5 stars The songs are very good. Thalia has come a long way!
Indeed she has come a long way! I like the songs in this record a lot, but Thalia still has a lot of walking to do.

5.0 out of 5 stars THAT'S WHY I'M A LATIN MUSIC LISTENER!!!, October 26, 2005
This review is from: Amor a La Mexicana (Audio CD)
Well, at first it seemed impossible for me. I thought I'd never have an official Amor A La Mexicana copy. In my country the CD is not on sale. When I saw it on amazon, I jumped on it (with En Extasis CD).

Listening to this CD made me feel as if first time listening to Thalia again. This album is the reason why a person should listen to LATIN MUSIC.

When I received the disc, I started it in my discman and lay down on my bed. I turned the lights off and tried to catch my sleep hoping that music would make me hypnotised and sleepy.

It was the first half of "Por Amor" the #1 song on the tracklisting passed ALL I REMEMBER WAS I WAS DANCING SHAKING EVERY POSSIBLE PART OF MY BODY. I DID NOT STOP FOR A SECOND even though there was #5 "Rosas" my all times favorite Latin Ballad. It was me, the discman that did not have the beltclip, and Thalia's ONCE IN A LIFETIME album "Amor A La Mexicana". When the discman started it's second run with "Por Amor" I could hardly notice that the morning would be the day for work.

This CD is SPECTECULAR, AMAZING, AMUZING, HYPNOTIZING, JIVING, REFRESHING.

AMOR A LA MEXICANA IS THE TRUE MEANING OF A REBIRTH FOR MANKIND.

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely Amazing Album, November 30, 2002
This review is from: Amor a La Mexicana (Audio CD)
This is arguably the most successful album of Thalia's career, and it is not without reason. The album is full of hits, is wonderfully produced, has a perfect balance of dance and ballad tracks, and is sung beautifully and skillfully throughout by the amazing Thalia. Some of the highlights are Mujer Latina, Rosas, Echa Pa Lante, Ponle Remedio, Es Tu Amor, and the title track. Mujer Latina is a spellbinding latina-pride anthem, you'll be out on the dancefloor sweating up a storm in seconds. Echa Pa Lante and Ponle Remedio are equally addictive, the latter having a very interesting song structure with Thalia doing a little rap near the beginning. The title track is sexy and steamy, great for a hot summer's day, while Rosas and Es Tu Amor are pure beauty shining in the sunlight; two very powerful ballads that deserve to be heard and loved. Por Amor, Noches Sin Luna, De Donde Soy and Dicen Por Ahi are all excellent too. In fact, all the tracks on this album are standouts; there is no filler on this album at all, that I guarantee. You will not be dissapointed you ordered Amor a La Mexicana. (Watch out for her full-length English-language debut, due out February 2003.)

5.0 out of 5 stars This CD has great music in it!, July 30, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Amor a La Mexicana (Audio CD)
Hello!

I had purchased myself a copy of "Amor a la Mexicana" CD and although, I don't speak Spanish, I loved every song in that CD simply because of the rhythm, danceable beat, ear friendly melodies, and haunting love songs which richly coats the songs. Since I don't speak Spanish, I was able to learn more Spanish words by looking the meaning of the lyrics up in the dictionary. Now, I not only enjoy listening to the inviting music of this CD but also I was able to learn more Spanish words as well because of this CD and the rest of my Thalia CDs. Isn't that a dandy! :-)

Bye!

5.0 out of 5 stars Montezuma's revenge!, January 2, 2001

Paco Calderón (Mexico City, Mexico) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Amor a La Mexicana (Audio CD)
A few months ago, I was stuck in a traffic jam in Paris on the way to the airport, having a quarrel with my girlfriend, when all of a sudden, from the cabbie's radio, 'Amor a la Mexicana' blasted out in joyous fury. We were both dumbfounded, amazed and actually quite proud that a fellow Mexican -and a singer-soap-opera star at that- was being played overseas -let alone in Paris- and by a cab driver who didn't even speak Spanish! "Aaaaah, Thaliaaaaa!" -he said in something resembling French- "Quelle fendueeeee!" Needless to say, we stopped fighting, started laughing, then singing and made up pretty fast afterwards. So I guess I owe Thalía an apology, for I used to badmouth her everytime her name came up. I'm sorry; I was a stupid jerk!

Now she has won me over, and my early criticisms have become my fondest praise: Though I've never met her personally, I once saw her live in a TV show, wearing a dental-floss-bikini complete with a Moctezuma headress, dancing this very same tune with a bunch of jotos pretending to be Aztec warriors offering her up to a volcano. I found the whole thing quite cheesy at the time, but now I think of it -and her- as great kitsch! In fact, Thalía fascinates me by managing the impossible: to look endearingly sexy while being overtly vulgar. Not an easy task. I love it!

As a person who does not speak much Spanish, I love all of Thalia's albums that I've listened to. This one is no exception. It's traditional and modern and that sounds blends together well with the message she is bringing forth. Awesome album, especially the title track.

5.0 out of 5 stars Me gusta el amor a la mexicana...!!, December 19, 2003
This review is from: Amor a La Mexicana (Audio CD)
If Love A La Mexicana is as good as Thalia says that it is, even though I'm Puerto Rican, I think I am going to go out and try it!!

1) Por Amor - 5/5 - Very awesome dance love song.
2) Noches Sin Luna - 5/5 - Song with a great beat, about loneliness.
3) Mujer Latina - 5/5 - My favorite song on the album the one I like best!! Great beat to dance to! Talks about how pride she is to be Latina, and I am, too!!
4) Amor A La Mexicana - 5/5 - Great beat, great lyrics, very sensual. Makes me want to go out and try love a la mexicana to see if it's this good.
5) Rosas - 5/5 - Great sad love song.
6) Echa Pa' Lante - 5/5 - Great song with a great message. It's never too late to start over.
7) Ponle Remedio - 5/5 - Great love song. Talks about a lovely woman who wants some loving.
8) Es Tu Amor - 5/5 - Talks about how wonderful love is.
9) De Donde Soy - 5/5 - Where am I from? Some place in the world, duh! What matters is that I am here!
10) Dicen Por Ahí - 5/5 - Sure, everyone can say what they want and criticize, but no one knows what it feels like when the one you love is gone forever, to The Land Of No Return!

Enjoy Amor a La Mexicana! Lotta love and rhythm. Comprenlo hoy!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Good but predictable, October 26, 2002
This review is from: Amor a La Mexicana (Audio CD)
Thalía is one of my fav. latin singers and it's not just because she looks beautiful! This is probably her best album, it's packed with strong but fun hits that are all very friendly to the old ear. The big problem is that it has very little originality: it has elements of just about every other Latin song around! Take for example "Mujer Latina" which is an excellent song, but the tune sounds way too familiar and predictable. This isn't really a major issue but I do feel the album really lacks any originality!
But, Thalia can sing and make a nice loada tunes so don't be put off-it's a good album!

5.0 out of 5 stars VIVA MEXICO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, October 28, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Amor a La Mexicana (Audio CD)
Thalia is the finest and the most talented of the Latino singers. Jennifer Lopez wishes she had the class and charisma that this Mexican Princess has. She can sing in Spanish and probably soon in English. Jennifer can sing in English but the only time she could sing in Spanish is when she was lip singing in the movie of another BEAUTIFUL MEXICAN WOMEN SELENA. THALIA ROCKS NOT ONLY BECAUSE SHE IS SO BEAUTIFUL BUT BECAUSE SHE IS AN INSPIRATION TO MEXICAN AMERICANS LIKE MYSELF EVERYWHERE.

I strongly recommend this ALBUM. This is a Must Buy. Thalia has it all: Beauty, Talent, fame....etc.
