The best tejano album ever released, February 9, 2000
This review is from: Amor Prohibido (Audio CD)
Amor Prohibido is a fantastic album, everybody should listen to it to know how incredible was Selena. All albums released by selena were great, but this one is special because her voice is more beautiful than ever, and we can listen to many styles of music, such as Cumbia, Rock and Mariachi. It`s also good to remember that all musics from Amor Prohibido were very succesful. It`s very difficult to tell what song is the best, because all of them are fantastic, but my favorite one is "No me queda mas",the best Mariachi ballada Selena has ever sung in my opinion, followed by "Si una ves" and "Fotos y recuerdos", songs we can listen to all day long without wanting to stop. yes, the last Selena album before her death is a must and all people who want to know her music should buy it immediately.

AMOR PROHIBIDO: THE ALBUM ALL SELENA FANS MUST OWN, April 7, 2003
Although Selena was a big celebrity before the 1994 release of this album, "Amor Prohibido" is one of her best known, and really shot this Tejano Queen into the limelight. Some songs featured on this album are "Bidi Bidi Bom Bom", "No Me Queda Mas" and the title track, now known as Selena and tejano classics. This album pushed the Tejano boundaries and is one of the most influential albums of its time. With a mix of rock, pop, cumbia, mariachi and with Selena's stunning vocals it is a must-have. As for the Remastered Tracks and Bonus Tracks, there is little to be said. There really wasn't much on this album to remaster, as it's original sound was up to date when it was recorded unlike her earlier recordings where the difference is completely noticeable. On some songs, yes you can hear it, but on most...no. The videos on this album are a nice added touch, but if you own the "All My Hits Video Collection", or the "Ones" DVD, this is again just re-packaged material. The Bonus Track, "Dondequiera Que Estes" is a beautiful song and one of her first big hits, and it's nice to have it in its original version on a Selena album (if you own Dreaming of You- the album, you have the Spanglish version titled Wherever You Are), unless of course you already own the "Ones" collection with the original version already on it. The Spoken liner notes are actually very interesting on this record, the band member's memories are much more vivid and I believe they talk more about the experience in the making of this record. I, myself, only bought this remastered album because my old one had worn out, and I felt it was time for a new one. So, if you already own the first original release of "Amor Prohibido", you have to ask yourself a couple of questions: Would I rather buy the "Ones" album/DVD and get all the material? Or rebuy all the remastered albums and get it piece by piece? Are the 20 minutes of new commentary on the album worth it to me? It's really up to you If you don't own this album already, I STRONGLY suggest you buy it now, because you'll treasure it forever.

Selena Es Mi "Amor Prohibido" Para Siempre!, October 2, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Amor Prohibido (Audio CD)
This album was critiziezed for being unbalenced, with different styles of music mixed into one album. I disagree, Selena was very good in many different types of music. Amor Prohibido is the best album Selena ever released in life, a chance that we had to see what we would lose a year later. I liked the title track of course. But "Fots Y Recuerdos" was an incredible number. Followed By her hit "Bidi Bidi Bom Bom" and "Techno Cumbia" witch are now songs known by every latin music listener. Then Came "No Me Queda Mas" a remix from the 1993 hit, which was written by Ricky Vela to Selena's sister Suzette, because he was in love with her. This Mariachi ballad was incredible. "Ya No" was an exellent Rock-Style ending to what would be Selena's final album. We will never forget you, "Queen Of Tejano"
