Full of great songs, June 25, 2001
This review is from: Con Amor Se Gana (Audio CD)
"Con amor se gana" is an excellent CD by Frankie Negron. This performer has one of the best voices in contemporary Latin music. Most of the lyrics are in Spanish, and all of the songs have a percussion-rich salsa rhythm. The CD gets off to strong start with the joyful, exuberant "Inolvidable." Other outstanding songs include the dramatic "Hoy me he vuelto a enamorar" and "Un busca de la noche," which mixes some English in with the Spanish lyrics. Also fun is a salsa version of Stevie Wonder's "Overjoyed" (sung in English). Frankie Negron is a genuinely exciting performer, and this CD is a great example of his talent.

Ok, I had his 'No Me Compares' then Lo que llevo por dentro. I love them both and finally get my hands on this one. It is really good. Frankie esta caliente with this one! Frankie is one of the best salseros out there. This is a must on your Frankie list!

Nice..., July 25, 2004
This review is from: Con Amor Se Gana (Audio CD)
Out of my 400+ salsa CD collection, I must say that "Con Amor Se Gana" is one of my favourite! All the songs are great, very pleasant to listen to, very romantic, and excellent melody. Unfortunately, because each song has too many "ups and downs", it may not be as easy to dance to compare to other faster salsa songs from Joe Arroyo, Fruko Y Sus Tesos, Sonora Carruseles, etc.
I personally think that the songs in this album have better melody and richer instrument than Marc Anthony's Salsa albums. Now don't get me wrong, I am a big fan of Marc. As I listen to Frankie's vocal, somehow I wish that it could have been Marc singing these songs!
The bottomline is, this is a very good album, I own three other albums by Frankie, and there's no doubt in my mind that "Con Amor Se Gana" is the best of all, I find no reason to giving it less of 5 stars!

Nice Debut Great First Song, September 18, 2001
This review is from: Con Amor Se Gana (Audio CD)
One way to make a rememberable entrance in a salsa arena is a to release a memorable first song. He accomplished this with "Inolvidable" a song originally performed by Laura Pausini. Without a doubt the first and third songs are great.

Watch out for this kid. This is a very good cd. I specially like the arrangement and interpretation of Stevie Wonder's Overjoyed. I think it's better than the original
