This beautiful album presents the poetry of John Paul interpreted by great tenor Placido Domingo and the London Symphony Orchestra in music and voice. These songs bring back the memory of the late Polish pontiff and his Infinite Love (Amor Eterno) for God and the world. The songs centered on the world of manual labor, young love, war, nature and family relations inspired by the Infinite Love (Amor Eterno) of God. Some of the songs are presented in Italian while other in Spanish and English. Some of the songs provide collaborations with great musicians such as Placido Domingo Jr (Love), Josh Groban (La Tua Semplicita), Andrea Bocelli (Canto del Sole Inesauribile), Vanessa Williams (Gratitude), Katherine Jenkins(A Mother's Wonderment). All of them did a wonderful job along with Placido Domingo and the London Symphony Orchestra. A beautiful album performed with a lot of respect for the poetry of our be loved pope.

The album's title may be a bit off-putting if one is not a Catholic or not particularly interested in the concept of poetry set to music - believe me, don't let any preconceived notions keep you from getting this CD. Having just purchased it three days ago, I think I've listened to it roughly eight times thus far. The music is excellent and the voices are stellar; Domingo is in fantastic voice throughout and he teams up with five other artists in selected songs, one of whom being his own son (a fine singer in his own right). His duets with Josh Groban and Andrea Bocelli are soaring, gorgeous blendings of some of the best tenor voices in current music today, sure to lift one's soul to the heavens. An excellent album with an operatic flavor and a musical experience not to be missed.

I have long been an ardent admirer of both His Holiness the late POPE JOHN PAUL II, and the very much alive operatic tenor/baritone MR. PLACIDO DOMINGO.

So the pairing of the POPE's poetry and MR. DOMINGO's great voice could only be a wonderful experience... and one is not disappointed!

The words of KAROL WOJTYLA, the man who became POPE, bespeak Universal Love, Faith, the Brotherhood of Mankind, and Hope for the World and our Future.

The POPE's words are given a life beyond the written page by the profound arias of MR. DOMINGO.

But my words alone cannot do this justice... you must HEAR this work to really appreciate it.

Beautiful music just to listen to. The songs are mostly in Italian which is a language I do not understand but the emotion and feeling comes through from the wonderful singing voices. The album insert gives all the words in English so I could follow along but I'd rather just go with the feelings in the music than to read along.

This CD is excellent and I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys classical music. All the voices are superb and the London Philharmonic Orchestra is unsurpassed. Only two of the poems have an English translation and are sung in English. The others are either Italian or Spanish. My only wish is that the included brochure had English translations of the other poetry that is not sung in English.

I enjoyed listening to this cd immensely. I have it in my car and listen to it all the time. Thank you Mr. Domingo for doing this great service. Your voice is immeasureable and the words truly get into my heart.

Placido Domingo is always enjoyable, but great credit goes to his son for the music to go with the former Holy Father, John Paul II's poems. Domingo Jr. even sounds good singing with his fabulous father. The duets with other well-known singers, especially Josh Groban, are pleasurable. I love the booklet that goes along with it, but wish all the songs in other languages were also printed in those languages too.

This album is a beautiful marriage of meaningful lyrics and splendid music. If one adds the beauty of the voices and masterful interpretation, it is as close to perfect as one can imagine.

Domingo (who is my personal favorite among all singers) just has that knack for interpreting. His operatic characters are always believable. No wonder that this time he could reveal to us the deepest meaning of the poetry by Wojtyla, even though the poems had to suffer the translations to another language.

I am not a catholic, neither am I a christian. It does not matter, however. What matters, is that I was able to enjoy the music so much. It is really moving, and the voices are - I just have to say that - heavenly.

This is one of the albums that I always keep handy. It will never become just another piece of music. Bravo Placido, bravi tutti.

I love this album by Placido...Most of the back-up singers do a great job with him especially Josh Grogan. I most likely will get this album.
