If you are a fan of Serge Gainsbourg and/or Carlos Jobim and/or Seal and/or Sade, then you will love this record. It is a sexy mix of English and French that is perfect to play while having a romantic evening or even during a dinner party. It has lush orchestrations and Joel's voice touches the soul.

Great music. Extremely sexy and unlike anything else. It's great to see a CD come out with such great musicianship and songwriting rather than just another pop act. This music is great for making love or getting over heartbreak. I definately recommend this CD to anyone who appreciates real music.

This is THE CD you need to have. It's lush, it grooves, it's romantic, it's international. Honestly a great record. The arrangements are superb and the songwriting skillful and emotive. The perfect companion to Babe Gilberto, Zero 7 or Esthero. Makes a great gift too. I have given this CD to two people and they can't stop thanking for turning me on to Joel.

Yes, "Amour Amer" would be a great CD to play as a backdrop to many activities. Why, I'm even tempted to enroll in that French immersion class I've been thinking about for the past several years after spending the better part of an hour listening to Joel's sultry voice travel seamlessly from English to French and back again. But instead, kick back on the sofa, turn off all pagers and cellular phones and simply listen. Rich instrumental details, very fine musicianship and smart sexy lyrics. From the covers to the originals, each song stands alone as a sparkling musical gem. Only one false note, which is the bonus "disco" track. I have one word for that -- "Why?"

Wend the first track " Loosing Me," conclude you will feel elated by the grove the arrangement the musicianship and of course Joel's breathy in the pocket vocals. Each song fallowing never takes the listener for granted, not only challenging but enchanting Mature, sophisticated music that is refreshing to ear feel and completely experience time and time again. Joel's approach is so unique that even though some of the times classical and traditional approaches are taken, they never feel derivative. Nicholas Payton guest on Midnight and it is pure gold. I heard the single "Won't Take No" in my video game, and loved the song. So, I bought the album and I love it too, every track is awsome
