A quick, but fun read,

This review is from: A Is for Amour (Erotic Alphabet) (Paperback)
This series of books looked like a fun and playful read, and that's basically what I got out of them. "A is for Amour" is a collection of short stories focused on the realms of passion. Each story is different and should speak to a wide spectrum of readers. In terms of intensity I don't think any of the stories really go very extreme, but stay more on the "softer" side of things, if that makes any sense. This is sort of what one would expect from a book titled "A is for Amour".
It's an extremely quick read though. I think I managed to read everything in about an afternoon. The one quibble I have with it is the price. I'm still up in the air as to whether it really warranted the ten dollars I spent. Granted there were multiple writers involved and I enjoyed the stories, but at only 132 pages, I feel I get a lot more bang for my buck (no pun intended) out of a novel for 8 dollars. I would say only pick this up if it really intrigues you. I don't think many readers would be overly disappointed with it, regardless of their passion, but if you think you'd get more out of a novel, that's where I'd go first.

I bought this book when I saw that a favorite author had a story included - All about Us by Radclyffe. It's a fabulous and erotic story not to be missed.
Some stories will appeal immensely while others may not be your cup of tea. All are well written. At 132 pages, and reading a couple stories a day, the work week will pass quickly. Contents - Arran's Lure by Saskia Walker Strings by Tenille Brown An Unexpected Love Story by Brooke Stern The Blonde in 1812 by Thomas S. Roche Parker's Mustache by Jolene Hui Le Petit Déjeuner by Jeremy Edwards Sharing the Love by Tsaurah Litzky Toys by Michael Hemmingson An Ordinary Love by R. Gay My Sometimes Girlfriend by Kate Laurie Above You by Alison Tyler

I swear if I keep reading these erotic collections so fast I'm going to explode with the internal sexual pressure. I've long given up trying to read short erotic stories on my break during my two minute siestas throughout the day. No, once I get my teeth into a good erotic anthology (like this one) I don't slack my jaws until I'm done. If this book would have been any longer I might have gotten lockjaw. My favorites: Strings All About Us The Blonde in 1812 Parker's Mustache - my favorite Sharing the Love My Sometimes Girlfriend

A solid collection of erotic stories edited by Ms. Tyler,

This review is from: A Is for Amour (Erotic Alphabet) (Paperback)
Alison Tyler, an author herself, has a pretty strong hand as an editor in this collection of erotic stories. Part of her thematic Alphabet of Erotica, A is for Amour takes on, broadly the subject of amour. That is to say, love.
Love has many forms and this is a more diffuse topic and theme than in many of Ms. Tyler's collections. As a result, to its credit, and to its slight detriment, the range of stories in this volume are extremely diverse. That said, in the twelve stories, we have themes ranging from three-ways to lust, to lovers with secrets from each other and the reader (and how!). Uniformly, the stories are sexy and hot, and if you have read a previous collection under Ms. Tyler's hand as editor, you have a pretty good idea what to expect. And if you haven't tried any of her collections, A is for Amour works as a pretty good introduction to her style of story selection, with its broad theme allowing for a variety of tastes and pleasures of the erotic word. I enjoyed the collection. |
