4.0 out of 5 stars Alan Tecchio is back!!!
Yes, my favorite vocalist of all time is back, and with Seven Witches! I've known the band to have several singers in the past and have seen them several times and this has to be Jack Frost's best line-up yet! Now, Jack gets singers that are already in other bands so they're not very stable. On this hand with Alan, I know for a fact that Hades is in the "can" and I'm...

Yes, my favorite vocalist of all time is back, and with Seven Witches! I've known the band to have several singers in the past and have seen them several times and this has to be Jack Frost's best line-up yet! Now, Jack gets singers that are already in other bands so they're not very stable. On this hand with Alan, I know for a fact that Hades is in the "can" and I'm sure he'll be committed to this project for some time. I was so thrilled that he was picked to sing on this new album when I heard the rumor he was a runner up so the day it came out I bought it. No disappointment here. Crunchy, jammy and catchy riffs packed with punch and the spine chilling vocals of Mr. Alan Tecchio. Damn, what a set of pipes! After all of these years he still hits those highs and gives me goosebumps. This album is jammed with killer tunes, starting with the barn burner "West Nile" and then goes into "Sunnydale High" which I think is the school Buffy the Vampire Slayer goes to. I love these obscure references. Anypoo, along with these power metal licks and kicks comes a fricken Billy Idol cover of "Flesh for Fantasy" which is really sweet. Aw, it even comes with a slow song from Alan dedicated to his new wife Beth called "BE". He's got a softy for the women important in his life. Did you know he wrote "The Cross" for his mom on the first Hades record "Resisting Success"? The new "Amped" cd is self explanitory. Get it, play it, crank it loud and proud and help a brutha out and get someone into this nu metal crap converted to the real deal. Metal Forever! Cheers.

5.0 out of 5 stars Killer CD (A must have), January 24, 2006
This review is from: Amped (Audio CD)
Unlike the last person who reviewed this, I think this cd smokes. Simple? Maybe, but it has killer hooks and melodies. To me the vocals are amzing. Can't sing? Alan Tecchio is one of the best singers there is in metal. IMO

I say this is a must have cd. Yes, it is very different from other SW releases. But, it is still real good and worth having!

2.0 out of 5 stars I AGREE WITH MAX R. TURNER, October 8, 2009

This is a very lacking, dry and humdrum album for an effort in the name and spirit of METAL. Their previous albums had punch and bite but the fire on this album seemed to have fizzled.

Do not pay alot of money for this because it is very disappointing compared to their previous efforts and to other great true METAL albums that were released by MANILLA ROAD, PAGAN ALTER, WOLF, SABBAT, TWISTED TOWER DIRE, etc.

1.0 out of 5 stars The Worst SEVEN WITCHES Effort..., March 25, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Amped (Audio CD)
I have all of SEVEN WITCHES' CDs (except for this one) and I must tell you I wonder what Jack Frost was thinking? 'Amped' has no flow, the vocals are crap and the overall sound of the material is BORING. I traded this CD in for something better. They did so much better with their latest effort as well as their earlier releases. Steer clear from this if you are just beginning to listen to SEVEN WITCHES. Make this your last purchase...

3.0 out of 5 stars Another solid Seven Witches release, March 20, 2009
This review is from: Amped (Audio CD)
2005's Amped was the sixth album in as many years from heavy metal workhorse Jack Frost and his revolving Seven Witches lineup. This time around, vocals are handled by none other than Watchtower/Hades frontman Alan Tecchio.

The first thing that jumps out at you about Amped is that it's a much heavier album than its predecessors. The power metal style from Passage to the Other Side has been replaced by a crushingly heavy, noticeably less melodic, almost Nevermore kind of sound. I tend to need a fair amount of melody, so this change didn't do much for me. You also immediately notice what a difference a new vocalist can make. Alan Tecchio has a totally unique voice that's worlds removed from James Rivera's signature wail. I'm not much of a Tecchio fan (his voice keeps me from enjoying Wathtower), but I have to admit he does a good job here. He has a deeper, less histrionic style on Amped than I expected.

I appreciate an album like Amped on a technical level (Frost is a first rate guitar player after all), and it's certainly heavy enough, but just can't connect with it emotionally. The songs blend together and for the most part none of them really stand out. I will give them credit for taking one of the worst Billy Idol songs ("Flesh for Fantasy) and making it totally work as a metal song.

I've heard a handful of Seven Witches albums now, and while they're all perfectly decent metal albums, I've yet to encounter one that really grabbed me. If you're a serious Frost and/or Tecchio fan, you should definitely check Amped out. It's not all that memorable otherwise.

5.0 out of 5 stars I completely disagree, March 1, 2006
This review is from: Amped (Audio CD)
I think this cd is amazing. It shows a more controlled Alan Tecchio, and more mature. I agree the songs are much different than the last 6 albums. But, this shows me that Seven Witches are not afraid to try a new route.

I find this to be their best cd to date! Production smokes and the song "BE" is incredible. Lyrically the song flows with brillant emotion and a heart felt message to his wife. You can tell his honesty in his lyrics.

Have ZERO fear in picking up this cd. It is a must!

3.0 out of 5 stars another year another album by the witches, January 29, 2006
This review is from: Amped (Audio CD)
I'd love to say that this is the best Seven Witches album to date, but I can't. don't get me wrong this is a good album, and I really do like it. but it has it's flaws, first and most noticable is the addition of new vocalist alan tecchio, which isn't bad it's just that 6 albums in and 4 singers later, this band is starting to remind me Annihilator. my other complaint is there is very little speed. sure there are heavy songs and cool thrashy riffs here and there, but it seems the band is shifting to a more hard rock kinda vibe. which again is cool but I still miss the soaring choruses and the power metal speed. oh well West Nile still kicks ass. A good cd if you like your metal with hints of Hard rock or your a fan of Hades.
