Best repeater/extender on the market!!!,
This review is from: Amped Wireless High Power Wireless-N 600mW Smart Repeater and Range Extender (SR10000) (Personal Computers)
I have a larger house and have gone through many range extenders. (Linksys, Netgear, Hawking, Belkin) I also use a Amped SR300 at my office at work and it works great. I must say from using all repeaters i could find so far, Amped repeaters are the best. Performance and interface wise they are top notch. So... when they came out with the SR10000 i was very excited to try this in my 5000 sq foot home. My wife and children like to use their IPads in the backyard by the pool and my current setup wasn't cutting it. Anyways, i got one of these, went through the very simple setup and was up and running in about 2 minutes. This one is more advanced then the SR300 one with an updated interface so it was a pleasure to use. the range is about double also. i love it. Amped about Amped!

Our broadband connection is an office separated from our house by about 100 feet. Never been able to get wifi in the house before. Did some research and bought the Amped Wireless high power smart router (wireless n 600 mw) and the high power smart repeater (wireless n 600 mw). The router got wifi throughout the house, from 3 bars to 5 bars on my Kindle Fire. With the addition of the repeater, we now have 5 bars of wifi everywhere in the house. The set up for both took me less than an hour - and I've never touched a router before, nor am I especially techie. The setup instructions were very clear and setup was easy. Very happy with the purchase.

WOW!!!
What else can I say about this item. Maybe the very quick & easy installation I found in this repeater. I usually give myself 60-90 minutes when I install/set up stuff like this. The only problem I had was logging in to the [...]! I realized after a couple attempts when the screen kept going to a website, that I had to log off the Internet...then do it. After that, within 5 minutes I was waiting for the unit to do its it's 2 minute reboot. I'm running 100% connectivity (full bars) on all my computers, iPad, tablets, phones & so on all through my 4400/sq ft home, the pool area & my yard. I have a shop that's 73yds from my back door, & I get a fair to moderate signal even there...it's a 40'x80 full metal building. So, I have nothing but Good Things to say about this repeater. In fact, I purchased Amped Wireless's High Power Pro Smart repeater, High Power Pro Access Point 600mw, & the High Power 600mw Pro USB Adapter (desktop stand/ pole/wall mounts came with all 3) so I can have 100% connectivity at my shop & every square inch of the 17 acres I live on. All but this main repeater are indoor/outdoor use. The only problem with coverage like this, is security & the Amped Wireless units all have security built in...so, I'm covered. The only slight problem is, the rural electric company( carrol electric) likes to "blink" the electricity several times a day which means you have to log back on the wi fi & that means going thru the security key entry. If it wasn't for that Lil problem, I'd have nothing bad to say. But that problem isn't anything to do with Amped Wireless Repeaters...it's the problems those of us who receive our electricity from a Rural electric co-op like Carrol Electric CO-OP have to live with. I only mention it for those who notice that they are always having to log back in to their Wi-Fi...they will know its NOT the Amped Wireless units causing the problem, so there's nothing to fix except to get a battery back-up to cover the "Blinks"! As far as the price, well I've got no problem with the price. This repeater is right in line with any quality repeater & it works just like its advertised it will. If your wanting a repeater that'll have you covered over a Very Large area, then look no further, It's worth the money & it's so darn easy to set up....no installation CD's to pre-load. With the other items I've purchased ... My coverage area is said to be 1.5 Miles !!!!!! Does "Going a Little Overboard" come to mind? Ha!

When I called for the first time I spoke to one of the actual founders because they were running short on staff in the call center. He was wonderful and it's always been an extremely pleasant experience speaking so such a wonderful and enthusiastic staff every time I have called. They ship their products out quickly and always make sure you have a tracking number for your order when it ships. Their products always seem to improve, they're extremely easy to set-up, their website is elegant and their ordering process is hassle-free. I went with their products for my business and the way my building is set-up it's extremely difficult to run wire to the upper floor. Their repeaters are inexpensive and do not require any cables except for the basic power they can be connected to. Their products have saved me hundreds of dollars in wiring services.

i love this product. i've had the problem before of dead spots in my room and backyard. nothing worse than your kids complaining that their ipads dont work and wives complaining about her roku stalling. so i gave this a shot based on all the positive reviews and also considered the negative ones but said what the heck. so far this thing is a blessing. setup took under 5 minutes out of the box and i'm not technical. the range is incredible. wifi throughout the house and garage now and no complaining from kids or wife. priceless. i even called support to see if i did everything optimally and they picked up instantly and gave me the best support i've had in a long time. they showed me that you could actually turn down the power on this thing if so it doesn't creep to your neighbors house which i thought was really cool. only complaint would be that this is probably one of the more expensive repeaters on the market but hey you get what you pay for. for the negative comments on this product i'd say you guys should try giving their support department a call and see if they can help. they were very knowledgeable for me.

If you've read all the glowing reviews, you'll probably think the SR10000 sets up easily and works like a champ. My experience is quite the opposite, and the details might be helpful to those who go ahead and buy this device in spite of its issues.1. Setup with the wizard seems simple and concludes with a countdown screen; in 150 seconds you'll reboot with a refreshed view in your browser window. Not for me; never refreshed (tried both Chrome and Safari, both on Mac). 2. Try to reach the control screen on the browser after setup: not as easy as it might seem. The SR10000 is setup to be addressed at 192.168.1.240 or at setup.ampedwireless.com. Once you've set it up with the wizard, however, the 192.168.1.240 IP address is unlikely to be correct, because the device will have been set to whatever IP address was assigned by your original wireless router. Unfortunately, the device defaults to redirecting from the 240 IP address to the setup text string "setup dot ampedwireless dot com" (setupampedwirelesscom) which won't resolve because that is in fact the 240 IP address. - Looking at your original wireless router control panel, you can see which IP address was assigned to the SR10000. Then, you can go to that IP address by entering it as a URL in your browser. For example, 192.168.1.38. Unfortunately, in my case, when I did that I connected to the device just long enough for it to redirect the browser back to setup.ampedwireless.com, which itself couldn't be resolved! - Tech support had me unplug the device for 2 minutes and try again. On the second of these attempts, I was actually able to connect to the control panel. 3. How to get around this wackiness of IP addresses and URL redirection? There's a setting, once you finally get to the SR10000 control page, to use a static IP address, as well as to shut off auto redirection. 4. So now we're finally at the control panel. Now what I really want is to set the SR10000 channel to Auto. Why? By default, the channel is static. If you're like most folks, I suspect your original wireless router is set to auto, and might periodically have a different channel than what it does right now -- such as after a power failure reboot, for example. The official advice from Amped's tech support is to just go in to the SR10000 control panel and reset the channel after such events. They told me that yes, most folks think that is a needless pain in the butt. - The device has a setting of "Auto" on the channel choices, but it doesn't work. The latest firmware update (as of today) claims to fix this problem, by enabling the "Auto" setting to work, yea! But, in my experience, it doesn't. So I asked tech support about it; they say to not use Auto on the SR10000 even after the firmware update because they say "the bugs are still being worked out." In other words, a failed firmware update to a failed item in config settings. 5. If, like me, you have a dual band router (2.4 GHz and 5.0 GHz), the advice from Amped Wireless tech support is to disable the 5GHz in order to ensure the SR10000 works well. That's not ideal; there's real value in the 5 GHz network for that part of my house that won't be extended. Plus, it makes no sense to me: the SR10000 only transmits / receives on 2.4 GHz so it shouldn't know or care if I have a dual network or not. It should just amplify the 2.4 GHz signal. 6. This is my second SR10000. I had a suite of problems, similar but slightly different, on the first one. When I explained them to tech support, their advice was that it probably was a bad memory chip and that I should return the device through Amazon and try again. As usual, Amazon is a pleasure to deal with and made that go very smoothly. Why was my setup experience so different than all the positive reviewers'? Perhaps because I wanted auto channel, wanted to go back in after the setup wizard to configure things like 40Mhz (faster) instead of the default 20Mhz, etc. Maybe because my original wireless router, which I'd hoped to use this to extend, is an Asus RT-N56U and perhaps the Amped Wireless device just works oddly with it. Or maybe because I'm using a MacBook. I returned the SR10000 and will find another firm's device to extend my wireless network. To net it out: the idea of configuring channel on power outages is annoying (admittedly I live in a rural area where this isn't uncommon); the idea of buggy firmware updates and config features that plain don't work makes me doubt the company on all their technology; the sheer pain of setup. Nothing about this device impressed me one bit, but there was plenty to give me a negative view.

Replaced Netgear repeater which continually lost WiFi connection and had to be reset. This is my first experience with Amped. Unit works great, strong signal and simple setup. Finally a product that performs as promised. Fast delivery with free shipping.

Would have given 4 ½ Stars if that were an option. It's not so in fairness have to give it 5 Stars.
I've tried several repeaters/extenders the second best which I just returned was the Wireless-N Extender Kit XAVNB2001 which uses house wiring to extend you WIFI to a secondary unit thus extending your WIFI to uncovered area. That unit performed Very well, but I found if I had many electrical devices turned on it would interfere with the unit and access wasn't possible. After searching and discovering that amped had a new High Power offering I read the reviews and decided to give it a tried. I find user reviews are extremely important to read before buying. It's a shame that both positive and negative false reviews are planted, but usually they are easy to spot. In any case my previous number one Netgear has been replaced with my New No.1 amped SR10000. My Findings after 2 Days: 1) amped SR10000 rated for 10,000 sq ft : I feel this is area is over rated, I'd say maybe more like 6,000 on average. However it did cover an entire 4,000 sq feet which included the basement. It also had at least 20% better coverage performance than the two other repeaters 2) Signal dropping - hasn't dropped signal in use yet, nor did the Netgear XAVNB2001. 3) Failure to connect due to interference: Both the amped and the Netgear units would fail to connect is I had to many devices running in the basement. However amped out performed Netgear in this area. When I say turned on devices the number of devices was between 15 and 40. Type of devices arcade machines, amps, wireless mikes, dance floor scanners, florescent lighting, TV's, neon lights, robotics. After 15 devices Netgear would fail to connect and after approx. 25 amped would fail to connect. . 4) Ease of setup: All repeaters/extenders were fairly easy to get running approx 15 to 20 minutes. I rate amped the best in this area however because of it's well laid out control panel which offered much more control and information. I especially like the signal display information within the setup wizard. Scoring of 1 to 100 by comparison Netgear(XAVNB2001) scores 79 and amped/wireless scores 100. Note: also the amped cost about 25% less. My final assessment amped/wireless: Over rated on coverage, but still the Best I've come across. I was disappointed that the WI-FI Analytics Tool was only for the Andrriod and not available for the IPOD, but I would still highly recommend this unit. Way to go "amped"

My Whole House Had Strong Wireless 10 Minutes After Opening the Box,

This review is from: Amped Wireless High Power Wireless-N 600mW Smart Repeater and Range Extender (SR10000) (Personal Computers)
Our office in the basement is where our modem/router is, so the signal on the second floor of the house is weak and spotty. This device now has a strong signal all over the house, even on the second floor. Setup was actually quite simple- 10 minutes tops. You hook the device to a computer with 70% signal from the main router in the house, set up your passcodes, and then disconnect after a few clicks. Then I put it on top of the kitchen hutch, quite out of view but positioned perfectly to broadcast to 4000 SF of living space evenly. 10 minutes later, everything that connected to Wifi- our laptops, tablet, even our smart phones had strong wifi signal everywhere and I was streaming Star Trek on Netflix in the master bedroom where I was lucky to get email before. Easy setup, no wires (you use a Cat-5 cable for setup and then you unplug and toss it in a drawer), strong signal everywhere, worked right out of the box- it is hard to find fault with that. If you are looking for an uncomplicated, true wireless solution for weak signal and dead spots in a house, this is a bullseye.

My wireless router is in the lower back corner of my house and I can't get a signal in the upstairs opposite corner. So after researching, I decided on the Amped SR10000. Getting the first connection to the unit to run the configuration wizard was a bit tricky. But once configured and restarted, the unit was working. I took it to the middle of the house upstairs, about half way to the dead spot, and now I have great coverage every where. If you are having range/coverage issues, I highly recommend this unit.
