5.0 out of 5 stars Punk meets Metal
Punk meets metal is a perfect explanation for this album, guitar rifts that can range from fast to slow, hard to soft that combine with very heavy lyrics that you can understand. The songs have great transistions and the 2 instrumentals add a great break. The album is as heavy as any metal album I whole but still retains a punk aspect. I would suggest getting a hold of...

5.0 out of 5 stars Give It A Shot, September 25, 2006
This review is from: ...The Amplification of Self Gratification (Audio CD)
ASG have been a favorite of mine since '04 when I saw them at warped. I was addicted to their self titled album for the entire year that followed (check out that album as well). Nonetheless this is the album to buy. It includes 4 or 5 songs that are also available on their old cd which I have to say were SOME of the best songs on it. "Yawn" & "Cowboys and Indians" are two amazing instrumentals which shows how different this band is from the rest of today's modern music. In their first album, singer Jason was not supposed to be the vocalist but they never found one fitting and he was thrown in at the last second. This is why there are a small amount of vocals compared to music in the old songs and his voice is much more raw. Examples of this are "Once Again", "One Less Crutch" & "Species American"

The reason i bought this was for the other half of the songs that were new. You can immediately see the difference in Jason's voice when listening to these and Im sure you will find them to be much "better". "Painted Hatred", "Southern Lord", "Silence to Burn", "Crosses" and "The Pillage and the Plunder" are all songs deserving of radio play and no song on this album is less than 5/5. I'd have to say my personal favorites are "Southern Lord" and "the Pillage..." but it really just depends on what Im listening to at the time. Nonetheless... buy this album and you will be introduced to one of the best bands of today.

I heard one of their songs in a snowboard video (Wildcats Diary and Night of The Living Shred) and I thought it was pretty good. I later one went out and got the album and I love it. I especially love the guitar in this. To be honest with you, I love all of the instruments. This is a great album by them and I cant wait to hear their next.

This CD was purchased by my son. He received it fairly quick and says that the CD is really very good. He will most likely be buying more through Amazon and its' sellers
