Excellent!,

This review is from: Amplified Parallel Bible-PR-NASB/AM (Hardcover)
Probably the best parallel bible you can buy from the market. NASB and AMP truly implements each other. The print quality is exceptional. The bible is thinner and lighter than expected, easy to carry. Excellent for day-to-day bible reading with the accuracy of NASB and the rendering of AMP. Well worth the money. Highly recommended.

Simply a MUST HAVE tranlation of the BIBLE!,

This review is from: Amplified Parallel Bible-PR-NASB/AM (Hardcover)
This combines what are probably the two easiest to understand modern English translations of the bible into one book, for side by side comparison. No more hard-to-understand words and grammar written in translations from 500 years ago. If you have only one Bible - make it this one.

Good inside, but...,
By Nerdy Man "Chris" (Fort Worth, Texas) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Amplified Parallel Bible-PR-NASB/AM (Leather Bound)
This is the ideal Bible for me inside. The NASB is considered the most accurate modern word-for-word English translation, and the Amplified goes a long way to bringing out the subtleties of the original languages. While I have both translations already, having both in parallel form to take with me as my "on-hand" Bible is very nice.
I thought it would be the ideal Bible for me on the outside, as well. Black leather is my preference, but this letter is pretty stiff and thin for the Bibles I'm accustomed to using. I worked in a Bible store during college, so I know that it takes time to wear them in, but even after some time has passed, it feels more like the cardboard imitation leather than bonded leather. Add to that the ridiculously large and gawdy title on the front cover. Hardcover Bibles are one thing, but when I buy a leather bound Bible, I want sleek, subtle, and elegant on the outside. I'm still going to use it as I intended for now. I'll take it to church, and use it for my primary reading Bible. It's got what I want inside, and that's what matters. However, I'm not even going to bother imprinting my name on this one, and the moment I find another Amplified/NASB parallel, I'm going to get it and use this as a reference Bible when I need to compare multiple translations. It's such a shame...

Before making a buying decision there are several things you might want to know about this book.
1. Since they have two translations in one book the font is small. There are 10 lines of type per vertical inch. This should not bother you if you use it to examine a few verses at a time. It is certainly not designed for extended reads of many pages at a sitting. 2. The paper is very thin. It is best to raise the page your are reading by a finger width from the next page. This will reduce the amount of show-through of the type on the other side of the page. 3. I am giving it four stars because of the low quality binding which Hendrickson is notorious for. It is a paperback binding with stiff covers. You can spot this by placing the book on a table and opening it in the middle. You will notice that the spine is flat and the pages descend into the ravine between the left and right pages. This makes for reading fatigue because the words descend into the ravine making them hard to read.

This bible resource combines the best of both translations for a great price.
NASB is more accurate word for word than the KJV, and the AMP is number one at fully saying what each Hebrew and Greek "picture" word and phrase meant to say. The Hebrew's spoke single words that could have a paragragh of explanation within them. So often a bible vese in English fall's short in getting the point across. This book has no chain reference with it in case you want to follow up a study with it. I use a concordance along side for that matter. Other AMP bibles have the chain reference's with them in case you want that feature all in one.

Simply AVERAGE..,

I own and purchase many bibles and translations. Although I do like the NASB coupled with the Amplified version, the font style and type size is less than desireable. It is hard to read and aggravating at best - no concordance and book introductions gives this a two star rating. My all time favorite Bible is the Thompson Chain Reference (I wish they would make an Amplified version!) and the Spirit-Filled Life Bible. Both are EXCELLENT and well worth the money. The Bonded leather on this is very cheap feeling and looking.

This version makes it very helpful in studying the Word - I enjoy the NAS version, but it helps to have the amplified right there in case I want more clarification.
