Donots, attack The USA,
By Rob (Chicago, IL USA) - See all my reviews

From begining to end this is one of the best Pop/Punk albums I have heard since Blink 182. The singer's voice sounds a little like Blink too. But the music is alot more meaningful. I hope they make it here in the USA. It is great to hear a german band that sounds great singing english. Much Respect for themLater

I had enver heard of the Donots before i went to Germany last month. While i was there i went to a Rock Festival and they were one of the bands playing there. They were hands down the best band there and one time when i was crowd surfing i reached the lead singer and grabed his arm and i got to sing part of We're not gonna take it. Anyways the next day they released a new album which i purchased and I also purchased this album as well. I love them both and almost every song is quality.

I've had this CD for over a year now. My girlfriend got it for me from Germany and I absolutely love it. Strange how these German guys can sing in easier-to-understand English than these midwest rappers these days. I wouldn't really consider them "Pop/punk" cause they're not that popular even in Europe. Anyways, it's a great CD. If you like Millencolin, Unwritten Law, or Blink then give this record a listen!

Better Than The Best,

The Donots aren't a well known band, even not in Germany. But the music of those crazy guys is what a punk rock freak with some kind of brain in his head wants to hear. No matter if you want powerfull but typical punk songs like "saccharine smile", enormous and bombastic masterpieces like "private angel", great party songs like "up song" or beautiful ballads like "hours away", everything can be found on this album. There isn't even ONE BAD song on it. What rocks you really on your heels are the two songs "That's Armageddon" and "Worst Friend/Best Enemy"! Just two usual rock songs, but their melodies will stay in your mind for a long, long time. The German version of the album is even better, because it contains a great cover version of the "Twisted Sisters" hit "We're Not Gonna Take It". But I guess you'll have to wait for that.So far, so good, have much fun with the album! |
