Though this expansion tank can be mounted horizontally this can cause a decrease in the products life. fyi- Just had this replaced and the plumber charged me 75 bucks just for the part-no labor inc. so if possible save a few bucks and buy online.

The home I just purchased has had two Extrol #30 expansion tanks fail in less than three years, due in part to having been installed horizontally on domestic water systems, contrary to manufacturer warnings. Go to the Amtrol web site for details.
