Product Description

The Amur Cork Tree is native to China, Manchuria, and Japan. Hardy in zones 4-8, it grows 30-40 feet tall with picturesque branching. This deciduous tree produces scented flowers, and its bright green, glossy leaves turn yellow in autumn. The trees are generally wider than they are tall. Most of the cork that is produced for wine bottles actually comes from an oak tree grown in the Mediterranean, and it is not from the Phellodendron that we get our corks. In Russia, however, they do harvest the bark and make corks from it. Therefrom comes the common name, the Amur cork tree.

Amur Cork Tree bark is used in Chinese Herbalism (with care) and is considered to be one of the fifty fundamental herbs. Proper name: Phellodendron ammurense
