A Joy to Read Aloud,
By A Customer
This review is from: Amy the Dancing Bear (Hardcover)
As a parent, I found that I got as much enjoyment out of reading this book to my daughter as she enjoyed being read to. The illustrations are a delight, and, just like the text, reveal something new with each reading.

I received this book when I was 3 years old. I am now 16 and to this day, I love this book. I always loved Carly Simon and if you like her music, you will love her wonderful book. I am buying it for my niece Victoria, and hope she will love this book as much as I do. It shows the love between a mother and daughter while also using your imagination. I love it!

This book reminded me of days gone by...memories to cling to,

This review is from: Amy the Dancing Bear (Hardcover)
While vacationing with my husband on Martha's Vineyard, I happened upon this book and immediately wanted to sit down and read in on the stoop outside. It reminded me of how bed time was when I was a little girl and how I would try to think of anything to convince my parents to let me stay up! I would offer to dance for them (though when they put me in dance class, I quit!), or just rattle on to keep their minds off what we were suppose to be doing at this time of the evening. It truly brought a warmth to my soul and I chuckled out loud with Amy's mischeivous ways to distract her momma. I am grateful for the wonderful memories that I have as a child and as go down life's pathway to middle age, I take these types of memories with me. I collect children's books and from time to time, with all the seriousness around us, one needs to curl up and take a step back in time to once again re-live their warm, soft and carefree memories. I am so lucky that in this day and age, there are still many of us that can look b

Cumbersome Dancer,
This review is from: Amy the Dancing Bear (Hardcover)
Carly Simon is a fine musician and lyracist. Unfortunately, musical talent doesn't automatically translate into writing talent (think Madonna). Why musicians and actors feel compelled and qualified to write fiction is a mystery to me; what I do know, is that your money would be better spent on one of Simon's CDs. If the over-blown language in this awkwad, cliche'-burdened morality tale doesn't wear you out, the trite and insipid parent/child relationship will.

I bought this when my daughter was small and loved reading it to her. I am a grandmother now, and I am buying it for my granddaughter. It is a wonderful fanciful book.

The book is a childhood favorite of my grown daughters. We only had one copy(belonged to my oldest daughter) and now each of my grown daughters have their own copy so they can hopefully read to their daughters to enjoy!

This is one of my favorite books of my childhood. I have so many fond memories of my mom reading this to me. The illustrations are stunning and I'll never forget the one of Amy's mother in the bathtub with the bubbles looking so tactile and fluffy. I will definitely share this book if I have a daughter.
I love Amy the Dancing Bear so much.

Enchanting book,

This book is absolutely enchanting. It is the most beautifully illustrated child's tale I have ever had the pleasure of reading. Both of my girls loved this story about a wonderful little girl bear who doesn't want to go to bed for love of dancing. The illustrations are richly colored with beautiful feminine floral borders and the story has a soothing, calm tone that is perfect for children's bedtime reading. It is a sweet story that can be shared by both parent and child. It also makes a lovely baby shower gift.

Book is by the fabulous Carly Simon, and the illustrations by Margot Datz just breathe life into it. It's a little story of a dancing bear and her mother. The young bear lives to dance - even if it means disobeying mother to stay up late to dance. Even if just for the illustrations- you should own it!

Beautiful illustrations and a warm and caring storybook.,

This is a cute and funny story of Amy, the dreamer and her patient and loving mommy. Margot Datz's illustrations created a pretty and colorful display of the landscape surrounding a gingerbread cottage on the Vineyard. Complete with mauvey wisterias and the detailed picture of flower seeds just sprouting in egg cartons on the window sills in Amy's bear's house. The whole book looks great. Elegant and a timeless story for children and their mothers.
