A gripping novel of tragedy and reality,
By A Customer
This review is from: Amy Girl (Onyx) (Paperback)
I first read this book when I was 15 years old, I'm now 24 and have read it a couple hundred times. The amazing part is I still find it captivating. The story is about a girl named Amy Kaslov who's abusive and alcoholic Father kills her Mother in front of her. Somewhere in Amy is the power to make people do things against their will. She struggles with the knowledge of this and many other starteling discoveries. Don't take my word for it though, get the book right away, I assure you the surprise ending alone is worth $6.95 and much more.

I am normaly a fan of thrillers/action books (I'm a 14-years old boy) but I started reading it, I liked it so much that I raced trough it so fast, that it was out the morning of the next day... The rest of the day I had problems concentrating me on things, beacouse the book touched me in a way, only few books did before... I really recomend it to everyone, it's a really nice book, only the end is too sad for me :-( SO GO GET IT!

Twisted tale,
By Evan the Dweezil (A Place-Sort Of, Montana) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Amy Girl (Onyx) (Paperback)
Amy goes from seeing her abusive father kill her mother with a hammer and into a foster home where she's being terrorized by the sociopathic son. The only thing she's got going for her is a special psi ability which helps her survive. This book has an interesting premise that's trapped in extremely long descriptions of things like a throw-away character's facial hair, wallpaper patterns, and other mundane details that drag the story down. The shrinks constantly making Amy out to be some kind of monster when she's the victim gets old fast, especially when there is justice for abusive jerks and anti-social pervs being dealt out as appropriate. Overly long, poorly paced, Amy Girl is the sort of book you read when there's nothing else around.

I must have read this book back when I was about 12 or 13 also, I am 20 now. I discovered it in my mom's bookshelf. I've read it 3times already and I want to read it again. It's an easy read but it's very compelling with a lot of imagery. The story about this little girl will touch your heart. You will wish that you could jump in the book and save her. Highly Recommended.

I borrowed this book from a friend when I was in the 8th grade, and then borrowed it from her again a couple years later. Now I'm 36 and I was disappointed to see this book appears to be out of print, but I bought it from a seller just because I remembered it as really good, and I was not disappointed in my latest reading of it.Amy is an incredibly beautiful, 8-year-old girl who finds joy in the simple things in life because she has so little joy in her life, otherwise. Her father, who is violent towards her mother and towards Amy, no longer lives with them, but she has horrible memories of the time when he did. Life for Amy is just starting to look up when her father comes back into her and her mother's lives one evening and destroys everything. Her father murders her mother and she ends up in the hospital in a coma. Amy had felt a "cold wind" in her head during bad times in the past, but now this coldness is with her with a vengeance. She does go to a foster family that loves her very much except for their son. He hates her and Amy starts to hate him back. Everyone in Amy's life--her new foster parents and foster sister, her telepathic uncle, her psychologist, and her uncle's psychologist--need to find a way to save Amy. But some of them are afraid of her, because they know that the cold they sometimes feel around Amy is coming from her, and it can make them do things against their will. Excellent, suspenseful, and scary read.

A Must Read-Gripping Tale,

I, like many others, read this book when I was about 15 years old. I am now 33 and I still think of this book often. My cousin and best friend, Nicole, passed this book on to me to read. She passed away when we were 19 and this book remains in my life as a reminder of our friendship and kinship. This book grips you from the beginning and refuses to let you go even when you have finished reading it. I truly love this book and am glad to know that it has been a wonderful read for others like me.
