5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful breastfeeding resource for new moms!, August 22, 2000
By
This review is from: Amy Spangler's Breastfeeding: A Parent's Guide (Paperback)
This book illustrates the fundamentals of breastfeeding in a way that is easy to understand. It has been a great resource for me, a first time mom with no experience with breastfeeding (and an extended family that has exclusively used formula). I recommend this book to anyone who is thinking about breastfeeding or is in their early weeks of trying it -- it will help answer a lot of your questions and help you to relax and enjoy the experience!

5.0 out of 5 stars Your best buddy while breastfeeding!, July 1, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Amy Spangler's Breastfeeding: A Parent's Guide (Paperback)
I was given this book at the hospital while taking a breastfeeding class. Even though I felt that I knew it all, when it came to actually breastfeeding my daughter I was clueless and in tears for the first week. This book provided me with the info I needed to keep on breastfeeding. I successfully breastfed for 8 months!

This review is from: Amy Spangler's Breastfeeding: A Parent's Guide (Paperback)
A great book for parents who are expecting. Explains why breastfeeding is a normal way to feed babies and healthy for mom and baby. Lots of great information! As a lactation consultant I plan to recommend this book to my clients.

5.0 out of 5 stars Clear no nonsense answers to your questions, May 12, 2001
This review is from: Amy Spangler's Breastfeeding: A Parent's Guide (Paperback)
I am a new (expectant) Mom with no experience breastfeeding. This book had the answers I was looking for with simple easy to understand pictures. This book answered questions for me I had posed to my OB/GYN but, for some reason, he couldn't communicate the answers to me in as concise a fashion as this book! I think this book is a wonderful resource. It's a fairly quick read and seems to address all the questions/problems you may face while breastfeeding.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Breastfeeding Book/Reference, May 8, 2003
By
This review is from: Amy Spangler's Breastfeeding: A Parent's Guide (Paperback)
I actually got this book free from a Breastfeeding class I took, and have found it to be the most easy to use/read book - especially compared to the other 2 books I actually bought. I feel it is straightforward with facts instead of opinions, and a great reference for when I had some breastfeeding problems and concerns.

One thing not mentioned, and I haven't seen it any other books, is how the number of feedings on average reduces after the first month - and 8 feedings isn't always required.

4.0 out of 5 stars Informative but Repetitive, August 15, 2004
This review is from: Amy Spangler's Breastfeeding: A Parent's Guide (Paperback)
I received this book when I took a breastfeeding class at my birth hospital. I found it to be clear and concise, friendly and easy-to-understand, but quite repetitive. It seems that each chapter contains the same (useful) information, just in a different order... sometimes exact phrases are repeated. Beyond that, the book is a short, easy read with practical information on everything from getting started to storing pumped milk.

5.0 out of 5 stars JUST GET THIS BOOK, April 5, 2011
This review is from: Amy Spangler's Breastfeeding: A Parent's Guide (Paperback)
Amy Spangler has a way of "telling it how it is". This book has the best no nonsense approach to nursing. It's concise and offers a realistic view of breastfeeding, esp for new parents. I wish she was my LC.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very Encouraging Read for a Very Discouraged Mother, March 20, 2011
By
This review is from: Amy Spangler's Breastfeeding: A Parent's Guide (Paperback)
This will be my first child that I will attempt to breastfeed. I have always been turned off by the idea of breastfeeding, but after much poking and prodding by my mother about the benefits, both financially and naturally, I have compromised with the attempt to pump. I still have a few weeks until our little one makes his debut, but I am preparing myself mentally as much as I can on what to expect with pumping.

This book was very encouraging, especially for mothers like myself who find breastfeeding awkward and unappealing. It covered nearly every question and concern that I have. I know that I will find myself frustrated and impatient at times, but this book will serve as a reminder that those feelings are normal and expected, but also defeatable.
