In this novel, we can see the conflicts between eastern and weatern cultures.We can see them just throuigh the description of the mothers and daughter. On the one hand,mothers were greatly influenced by the Chinese culture and tradition, they try to adjust themselves to the western culture. On the other hand, the daughters were brought up in the west, they are deeply influenced by the western culture, they sometimes can not understand their mothers. While we can also find the impact of eastern culture on them.
