Tasty, filling and quick.
Anjanie
It has terrible texture from the bits of tofu in it, it's very watery, and very bland with no taste of much of anything except beans.
Reviewer
As you might of guess, I was not a fan of this chili.

Vegan. Organic. Kosher. Not overly spicy for chili, but still some bite. Comparable to medium hot salsa. Fantastic over rice or pasta or with tortilla chips. Wonderful vegan taco filling. Also available in spicy Amy's Organic Spicy Chili, 14.7 Ounces (Pack of 12) and lower sodium Amy's Light in Sodium Organic Medium Chili, 14.7-Ounce Can (Pack of 12). Six star company. Another vegan wonder from Amy's kitchen! This review is out there for those for whom this makes a difference. See all of my reviews for more great choices. I had this for lunch one day with some spicy potato chips. I only ate half the can and I was completely satisfied. Usually, I eat the whole can, but this was so hearty, I didn't even need to go back for seconds! Two cans of this and some corn bread could easily feed a family of four. I have a recipe for chili pie that I might use this for. This is easily my favorite canned chili, as the healthfulness more than makes up for the little extra you pay compared to the cheaper meat chilis.
My only gripe, and this was all but forgotten by the time I got to the bottom of the bowl, was the odd sweetness it had that isn't present in any other canned OR homemade chili I have ever had. It put me off when I was first heating it up, but I quickly adjusted to it and I swear, I wanted to lick the bowl when I was done. I just took it as the natural flavor chili acquires without meat and when it is subtly seasoned so as not to overpower the natural sweet acidity of the tomatoes and veggies. It kind of reminded me a tvp sloppy joe recipe I made in the crock pot, once. It wasn't QUITE that sweet, but the flavor was approaching that. Very tasy anyway, but if the idea of a slightly sweeter chili puts you off, definitely try this first before ordering a whole case. Otherwise, go nuts. You won't regret it. I wouldn't buy any other...

I've never tried this Chili but my Boss eats it literally every day. So it has that going for it, which is nice.

because I think that it is too bland even with a moderately spicy kick. Its texture is pleasantly faux meaty if one cannot or will not eat meat. I add 1/2 can of tomato puree, one half cup frozen corn, two oz.red wine, 1 tbsp
ground cumin, one tbsp garlic powder and 1 tbsp Chili Powder (preferably Spice Huntet if you can locate it- see my review). At this point, if you require more spice/heat and flavor, add one tbsp smoked paprika and/or 1/2 tspn chipotle powder. Heat well and top each bowl with one tspn
Extra Virgin Olive Oil. Not homemade but a positive compromise.

I am not able to by Amy's chilie at my local store and it was a decision which one to buy as a case, as they are all so good. I choose the vegatarian as it is a neutral and knew it would pass everyone's taste test. The Hot Chilie is Hot, I like it but have also mixed it with a medium. This veg chilie is great by itself, or over a potato or served with rice and beans or in a taco with "the fixings". Very good item for the pantry. It doesn't have that canned food taste and does not have a pop top.

I don't know when the sugar content went to 5g but it used to be less (I think it was 2g). The last can I opened was far too sweet and for chili, it just isn't necessary. I have always liked the taste of this, but I also don't care for the strange tofu bits and soy isn't as popular with me as it once was. I would love to suggest they go back to the kitchens with this one. Keep the same type of beans and the mellow flavor and get rid of the soy and the sugar. It's a decent thing to have on hand when the refrigerator is running low.

Just tried this... it's quite good. I don't like the strong tomato flavor, but that's because I don't like tomato paste generally. I'm not accustomed to eating chili though, and eating spoonfuls of it seemed strange because its so liquid. I made a bean burrito out of it instead = yum! :) definitely worth a try, but I wouldn't buy a pack of 12 because I would probably get tired of eating it all the time.

It can be really hard to find good, organic vegetarian chili. And, it takes a while to make it.
On work/school nights, it makes sense to make something that takes little time. I love all of Amy's vegetarian products, and her chili is no exception. The medium chili is slightly spicy; we actually added some Sriracha sauce, tomato paste and sauce, and grated cheddar cheese on top, and put in some cut up Smart Dogs in it, and it was great!

What I love about Amy's products is their committment to creating great tasting foods at reasonable prices. It's food you can feel good about eating. And, since we're trying to save money, this is a great way to eat something quick, easy, and inexpensive at home.

And, with Amazon's great prices and delivery, you can easily have it on hand.
