Good value case for Nexus
on November 12, 2012
Vendor shipped promptly and I received within 4 days of order. The fit is spot on. The cutouts for all the connectors, plugs, sensors, speakers are perfectly placed. The opening for the phono jack is large enough for most common plugs and will not prevent a snug connection. The only minor annoyance is the power and volume buttons are raised ridges on the skin, and require much greater effort to register a press vs not having a case. Additionally, the raised ridges are very slight so locating them by touch requires extra attention. Quite often, I find myself pressing the power button when I wanted the volume button, and vice-versa.
The bead on the edges fold over the the bezel, just enough to keep the skin on and in place which is nice. The skin itself is not non-skid, so it doesn't have much grip. If you place your tablet on the dash, it will slide off. The style on the back of the skin is a nice touch, but doesn't add any functional value. The sides of the skin has raised dimples, and feels exactly like the knurled grip of a hand tool. I found the texture to be a bit abrasive. You can rub your skin raw on it if you are not careful. I would have preferred something less aggressive for gripping purposes.
This skin, like other skins, will NOT provide much protection from drops or other blunt forces, but then that's not why you buy a skin. If you need armour protection, buy a real hard case instead. For keeping the tablet scratch, dirt and smudge free, this skin is a great value, with high production quality, with only a couple minor design issues IMHO, YMMV.
