Editorial Reviews

From the Author

Are you tired of appetizers that look appealing, but fall short in the taste department? Are you tired of spending a fortune on appetizer ingredients, only to discover that your guests didn't like the recipe? And lastly, are you tired of recipes that require a Master's Degree to assemble?

Well, I was! Over the years, many times I would try an new appetizer with high hopes. Only to be disappointed in either taste, cost, or time spent preparing the recipe. But in those years, I also discovered quite a few amazing recipes!! Appetizers SO good, I'd want to eat them for dinner! After years of trial and error, these are the recipes that I keep coming back to. These are the appetizers that have gotten raves over the years and many requests for the recipe. I can make these and have some confidence that there will be none left and that my guests will not go hungry.

Some of these appetizers I discovered at weddings and then tried to duplicate on my own at home like "Philly Cheesesteak Spring Rolls", "Melted Mozzarella Bruschetta Slabs", and "Chicken Skewers and Peanut Butter Dipping Sauce." Others were discovered at family gatherings and friend's parties like "Feel Good Slush" and "Melted Onion Dip." Some I found in the newspaper, but they needed some tweeking like "Devilishly Good Bacon Deviled Eggs" and "Pina Colada Fruit Dip." But in ALL cases, these appetizers bring a smile to my family's face when I announce that I'm making them!

Bon Appétit!

4.0 out of 5 stars Interesting range of recipes. July 1, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
The Ham & Cheese Sliders sound yummy and I'll bet they go fast, too! The sauce for the Chicken Skewers and Peanut Butter Dipping Sauce sounds delicious, but I would marinate the chicken in a satay marinade overnight for more flavor. Devilishly Good Bacon Deviled Eggs, Melted Mozzarella Bruschetta Slabs, Melted Onion Dip, Bourbon Dogs (not only because I'd get to drink the rest of the Jack Daniels, lol!), Raspberry Baked Brie and Baked Potato Dip were the recipes I found most appealing.

The formatting is okay, and each recipe begins on its own page but author really needed a proofreader. I almost put the book down after the first couple of pages. Hors d'oeuvres is misspelled in the first sentence of the introduction. Grrrr! However, the author is very enthusiastic and there are some pretty good recipes.

Have used many of the appetizers and always get compliments. Smoking Good Sugar Dogs is one of my favorites. Raspberry Baked Brie is another hit.

3.0 out of 5 stars Interesting recipes October 16, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
It's an interesting range of recipes, but the author needs an editor badly.

The first entry in the table of contents says "chocolate banana pie" but the recipe is for sugar dogs. In terms of punctuation, the author is also as fond of the question mark as she is of slushes, and there are too many of both in my opinion. (I confess, I'm not a fan of the slushy punch bowl at any event.)

I hate to be a grammar Nazi, but the question marks brought back visions of my frowning 6th grade English teacher, and it has been decades since I last saw her.

If you don't mind overlooking the grammar & punctuation errors, it's a nice little book. I say that even knowing I'll probably never use any of her recipes--they don't suit my style of entertaining, I guess. I can, however, see friends using these for Super Bowl parties and game day munchies.
