I had the privilege of staying in Dr. Theron Randolph's "Ecological Unit" at the American International Hospital in Zion, Illinois in the mid-1970s. When I first met him, Dr. Randolph was unlike any doctor I had ever seen. In our first long meeting he asked me many unique questions like: (a) did I have a gas stove?, (b) was there wall-to-wall carpeting at home?, (c) what foods did I normally eat and when and how often during the day?, (d) did I normally cook at home or eat out? and (e) did I wear after-shave or cologne?, just to name a few. All my answers he carefully typed verbatim on his manual typewriter. In the unit all the air and water was carefully filtered and we ate only organic food which had NO (or at least an absolute minimum of) neurotoxic pesticides and/or herbicides in them. We initially went on a four day fast to totally clear our GI tract and entire bodies of ALL foods and chemicals we had previously been taking. For me, the second day of this fast felt terrible, as I was in total allergic "hangover" -- very similar to those experienced by users of hard drugs like heroin or cocaine, or those experienced by chain tobacco smokers who can't get their next "fix" on nicotine -- , but by the time the fourth day came, I felt better than when I started! Each "meal" was an individual food for which I was carefully monitored for any possible sensitivity (or allergy) by an increase in my heartbeat. Thus the ACTUAL ROOT CAUSES of many chronological illnesses for each UNIQUE person could be found.

While there I learned that Dr. Randolph had treated and totally cured many patients WORLDWIDE who had been bounced from specialist to specialist for years and were taking up to twelve different medications to try to artificially smother the symptoms. After leaving Dr.

What a wonderful, clear, understandable, hopeful book! 35 years ago I was diagnosed and treated in Dallas by a protege of Dr. Randolph's. I had been to an average of 10 doctors without any improvement for seizures, depression, back pain, rages, spontaneous bruising, etc. In testing I learned that I was allergic to all but 14 tested foods. I was violently senstive to natural gas and had to have it all removed from my home before I could leave the hospital. These doctors have given me back my life!!! This book gives a partial biography for Dr. Randolph, and explains how he and other open-minded medical doctors arrived at their conclusions. Many case histories are also presented. Oh that more doctors would be open to learning better ways of treating illness, getting to the root causes, rather than just covering up symptoms with pharmaceauticals! This book is a MUST READ for everyone who has undiagnosed illness.
