Editorial Reviews

From the Author

I happen to be a big fan of the Highlander series since it first came out. I simply loved Adrian Paul in his role of tortured hero fighting for justice and survival. Who can resist a hero like that? :)  Then came the books, such as JR Ward's Black Dagger Brotherhood series and Anne Rice's vampire novels.

Another fascination of mine is secret societies and their inner workings. This, coupled with my lifelong love for romance novels, had me chase a kernel of an idea that eventually bloomed into The Valthreans.

I do hope you enjoy reading this series, and that you fall in love with the characters as I have. Any feedback is appreciated, as well as new friendships, so please, feel free to track me down at any of the social media haunts I list on my website at nataliegowens.com - Thank you for reading!

About the Author

Pink velvet and black lace. Light and darkness. A world of contrasts exists in Natalie's stories because every rose has its thorn. Her favourite stories to write are romances with a dark edge featuring brooding heroes, strong heroines, an intriguing mystery, and a good dash of fantasy.

Married, with one son, she now calls the beautiful island of Malta home after eleven good years in Atlanta, GA. As a professional editor and author, her days are always busy, but when she's not working--or muttering to herself about her book plots like a batty old maid--she enjoys spending time with family and friends (both online and offline), sipping on a good shiraz, reading, cooking and entertaining, watching a good movie, travelling, and ogling shoe store displays. Most of all, she loves to meet and communicate with other authors and readers.

Review of An Eternity of Roses
The Valthreans #1
Natalie G. Owens
5 stars

Reading this book was truly a delight-and I use that word intentionally. A fast-paced, loving, lovable, romp through time and character and romance and horror, with characters who are so fully fleshed that I felt they were standing beside me, "An Eternity of Roses" is only the beginning-this is the first entry in a new series called "The Valthreans," about a race of immortals who commenced almost before recorded time.

Lady Emmaline and Viscount Adrian are so very deeply in love, and are soon to marry. It's 1807, a time when Society is all, and marriages are almost always arranged for convenience, politics, or matters of wealth. But these fortunate two are in love; until the villainess interferes. Madeleine put me in mind of the infamous Countess Elisabeth Bathory (yes, one of my favourite historical characters) in her depths of evil, the ambition of her evil, and her arcane murderous practices. She rules by fear, and she desires Adrian: nothing will stop her, or can she be stopped?

Natalie G. Owens writes prose as if she is writing poetry, truly. The imagery is superb, and almost every sentence contains a wonderful description that makes the reader want to pause to savour it. I can't wait to read the next in the series; in the meantime, "An Eternity of Roses" is a definite re-read.

The author provided me with an e-book copy in return for my provision of a fair and impartial review.

In a magnificent accident, I was privileged to receive a copy of “An Eternity of Roses” for review. This work, weaved in rich, lyrical language, is meant to be savored in dark, quiet evenings beside a fire. Wrap yourself in the warmth of a favored comforter and be immersed in a story you will not want to rush.

We meet Emmaline and Adrian at the threshold of a life they breathlessly anticipate living together, until fate and the schemes of an immortal separate them. Inducted into an existence neither of them pursued, and with Adrian's memories seemingly lost, we watch as Emma's search for the only man who can hold her heart spans centuries.

Emma and Adam, as they become, face adversaries mortal and otherwise, each with an agenda. It is a world where sides are chosen, loyalties drawn, and consequences draw their due. The result is entirely worthwhile.

The writing is gifted, the editing pure prowess, and the presentation unfolds without a hitch. There are intimate scenes explicit enough to avoid if one is disturbed by an author who does not close the door, but there as well emotion rather than lust predominates.

There is a theme of love in this novel as being a gift given or received, rather than a treasure to steal or covet. A magic there surpasses the greed, hate, and covetousness of those who do not understand true power ... and that portrayal, I believe, was the author's intention from the start.

Do yourself the service of reading this novel. Experience a work of true talent in storytelling and wordcraft.

I truly fell in love with An Eternity of Roses. The characters were well developed and the story streamlined.
Natalie G. Owens takes us on a fantastic journey of two lovers that last for about two centuries. Both Lady Emma and Viscount Adrian are made immortal due to the evil plans of Lady Madeleine. They are torn apart before they can marry by this evil enchantress's spells.
You have an age old feud of good versus evil that is thousands of years old.
You will enjoy the adventures each lover must take to concur evil and regain their chance of Happily Ever After. There are plenty of twists and turns, evil vs. good(with good winning).
Ms. Owen is a new author to me and I will definitely be buying the books in this series as she releases them.

I was given a free copy of this book by the author for an honest review.

Whew!! What a rush!! Although this book was different than I was expecting, it still grabbed me in its clutches fairly quickly, but with all of the mystery, suspense, intrigue, heartbreaks and twists & turns, I never knew which way it was going to tug me next!! It is so beautifully written that I found myself lost in the pages, so engrossed in the story that time flew past and I didn’t even realize it! “The rose then seemed to radiate more beauty, more vitality…” From the very beginning I fell for Adrian & Emmaline and loved how they loved each other. They seemed to have a sixth sense when it came to knowing when they needed each other - for example, Emma gets all freaked out and heads outside to regroup & hide, so to speak. Adrian heads outside a few minutes later, where they hide so that she can calm down. Of course that is a water downed version of what actually take place, but you get the idea. “You are meant to be mine. You are in my blood.” Now the blurb says this: “The Valthreans immortals series contains sexy heroes, strong heroines, intriguing immortals, magic, spells, mystery, amazing adventures, exotic settings, secret cults, and sensual love scenes.” But that just barely scratches the surface and does not convey the wealth of emotions you go through while reading this book!!! The whole concept was unique, for me at least. Usually being 'Immortal' means you are a vampire, shifter, god, demon, angel or something in between or even a mix of, but not with this book! Now if anything, THAT alone should get your attention! *innocent smile* But take EVERYTHING that IS this story and it becomes so much more than mere words can fully describe! “An eternity of ordeals ensued from that encounter with Fate, but things would finally change now.” “Mine, Emma.Read more ›
