John Bogle is such an amazing man. His intellect and integrity are equally matched. He is so humble when he speaks with people and never is patronizing or egotistical. Yet, the man is one of the most brilliant minds in investing and his sole mission is to make sure the little guy gets his fair share by investing in low cost index funds. Like all brilliant ideas, the majesty of simplicity is the core of the message. To retire with wealth and most likely beat 90% of the managed funds out there all you need to do is invest in the Total Stock Market Index and the Total Bond Market Index; set an asset allocation equal to your age and you are done. If you want a splash of international, you guessed it invest in the Total International Index. Deep down I remain absolutely confident that all anyone needs is two funds or even better go with the Vanguard Balanced Index Fund and just keep adding to it. Don't even look at it (as Jack would say Don't Peek). The week before retirement check your account balance. Have a doctor nearby because you will probably faint when you see how much is in there. Stay the Course, Tune out the Noise and don't just do something, stand there. The interview with Jack is one of the best ones out there. He explains it all and gives us the eternal truths of investing that never change.

TOP 1000 REVIEWERon May 25, 2014
Interesting interview with John Bogle, the founder of Vanguard and the brains behind low cost indexing investment. The latter method has consistently beaten most of the top fund managers in investment returns. Mr. Bogle advises long tern investment and eschews day trading and "churning". He emphasizes that an investor should always be mindful of (high) trade commissions that may erode the final returns.

This, 56 mins video, is very educational and entertaining. Highly recommended to new and seasoned investors.

if only every wall street person and investment counsellor were like John Bogle! He is so honest and clever. He's basically the fiduciary that everyone needs/would benefit from. The voice of reason/sanity surrounded by many greedy dogs in the market. His basic message is caveat emptor! Indexing, diversification, long term investment--that's his mantra--and justifiably so.

He made it too simple. Not mentioning the fact that interests rates have never been this low and that bonds should represent a big portion of your asset allocation if you are retired might be a problem. Skipping over international and emerging market index funds in an investment portfolio seems unwise. Not that things have to be complicated to be successful. Lower costs/having a plan that fits your goals gets you there.

WOW!!! He is brilliant.............He is so self deprecating in his books it's easy to forget he is the genius behind the index fund, Vanguard, and a true advocate for investors.

Agree with several other comments regarding the interviewer being sub par.

She Sucks. She doesn't seem to know what she is talking about on more than one occasion. It's a little annoying. She also doesn't let him finish his thoughts more than a few times. That would be ok though, if she clearly knew what she was talking about.

didn't know I'd purchased it.
Basic stuff if you are know about investing, markets and the dubious history of the financial markets and how they are constantly manipulated to steal and defraud the unwary.

This interview with John Bogle is eye-opening and exposes in language that is so plain and simple that you begin to doubt your ears the scam that is Wall St. and how for so long now financial institutions have been stealing the majority of the money invested by Americans and gambling with it in their own schemes that have now twisted the economy, the country and the world into the unjust mess it is in today. Bogle says this a bit less hyperbolically, but it's there.

I love the interview. I thought John gave excellent explanations on the value of asset allocation, the buy & hold strategy is it dead or alive?, and the value of index funds vs stocks.
