Sutton Foster is probably the best performer on Broadway right now. Nobody can sing, dance and act with the polish, pizazz, and confidence that she has. In this album, you can will get more than a glimpse into Sutton the person. She not only sings some carefully chosen songs, but speaks about them and how they fit into her life. I've been fortunate enough to see her in concert, as well as in all of her Broadway shows, and listening to this CD is just like being present for one of her concert performances. Just buy it and listen!

I am drinking the kool-aid on this album. I bought her first album after getting to know her through her various roles on stage. The "Wish album" being such a wonderful eclectic peek into the woman behind that power house voice. I thought, well this album couldn't be much better, as it has many of the songs from the wish album. So I put off purchasing it until I was asked what I wanted for a birthday present. I WAS SO WRONG PEOPLE. The personality of this wonderful talent leaps right out of the CD. I found myself, having visited the Carlyle (and paying a lot for it) feeling like I was present for this fantastic cabaret. I would venture to say this is one of the best cabaret/solo albums I have heard since Barbara cook. Do yourself a favor and buy this album.... it puts me in a good mood every time I listen to it, and come on who couldn't use that nowadays

This is a wonderfully entertaining disc. Foster has a fluid, lyrical voice that can transform any number of song types into pieces that she just "owns." But the real magic of this album is that "in the seat" feeling that comes as you listen. I'm sure the Cafe Carlyle is an intimate cabaret, and none of that intimacy is lost in the audio capture. Foster is exuberant and silly--clearly having a wonderful time performing. I found myself laughing with the audience at her jokes, and almost "seeing" the performance before me. The experience is that intimate. This is a must-own for any Sutton Foster fan... or anyone who enjoys Broadway or standards done well.

I didn't know a thing about Sutton Foster before I bought this CD after clicking through to a YouTube performance of hers from her current show on Broadway.

What leaps out at you in this recording is this woman's happy-to-be-here-and-LOVE-what-I-do personality. She's self-effacing, genuinely appreciative of her on-stage colleagues, and frankly delighted at where she finds herself.

All that is very seductive. You can't not help liking her personally.

Her sense of humor comes through in spades as well, which again, is a delight.

The actually singing and arrangements? Quite wonderful.

Whenever this is on I find a smile on my face.

You will too.

I bought this album moments after Sutton Foster's August 31st appearance on The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson (she was the very first musical guest to use the soundstage at his new studio) and with rare exception, I have listened to it every single day ever since. While she's a seasoned Broadway veteran, this cabaret-style live recording should introduce the masses to this brilliantly entertaining talent. No auto-tuning, not some overly produced wall of pretentious sound -- just one tremendously appealing voice, a piano and the occasional ukulele. I'm beginning to see the light.

Obviously, her dancing and acting skills are not relevant here, but she is in the stratosphere with Kelhi O'hara, Kristin Chenoweth and Idina Menzel among Broadway singers and her cabaret act is wonderful for fans of that genre.

Her voice is clear as crystal and the pianist is excellent. Read the track list to avoid disappointment if you are expecting mostly her Broadway hits.

The album makes you feel like you were at the Carlyle for the show. We know that triple threat Sutton Foster (singer, dancer, actor) is amazing on the Broadway stage. Live at the Carlyle shows that she is also at home in the intimate cabaret setting that is the Cafe Carlyle. Sutton Foster truly is astonishing !

Sorry to have missed Sutton Foster Live at Cafe Carlyle - but from this album, it must have been an awesome show. We have Sutton's album, and Laura Osnes at the Carlyle. One of these days we will get there live. Sutton is refreshing, and her voice is magnificent - just piano and guitar. Excellent!
