I highly recommend the book, it's not a dense read but it's great entertainment!

I recommend reading this book, then watching the TV show "An Idiot Abroad" to see Karl Pilkington and his mannerisms come to life.

I loved the TV series associated with the book, and with this book you can see more of the antics of Ricky, Steve and Karl.

I haven't finished the book yet, but it is absolutely hilarious so far! If you enjoy anything these guys do, and can't get enough of Karl's logic (or lack thereof!), this book is for you. I have watched some of the show that this book is based on (it's only on in the UK right now, but can be found online). It's one of the funniest shows ever.

I watched the show & thought it was hysterical. When I had to have major surgery I purchased the book. I read this before & after surgery. Although after surgery I had to put it down because it hurt to laugh. I was in a very sad place in a sad situation. I would pick up the book & let it take me away. I would be with Karl on one of his adventures or misadventures. I would actually laugh out loud, really loud! & have nurses ask me what I was reading. This was in Pittsburgh, Pa. No one had heard of An Idiot Abroad. I am so glad it is coming out on DVD. My favorite aunt is in Florida & had a stroke. She is unable to read the book but I have read parts to her. I will being going down to stay with her for a couple of months in early 2012. I am definitely taking the DVD with me so she will be able to see Karl's expressions throughout his journeys. This book has been incredibly therapeutic for myself & others I have turned into Karl fans. I also enjoy Ricky's animated radio show which I would have never watched if it was not for this book.

If you are a fan of Ricky, Steve and Karl you will love An Idiot Abroad. The book is all from Karl's point of view with a few snippets of Ricky and Steve. Karl takes us through the seven wonders of the world as he seems them.

If you have seen the TV series then you might be bored by certain part of the book as there is a lot of repetition of what was said in the series. You will love the parts of the book that is new material, but at the same time it will make it clear to you how much more fun the book would had been if you hadn't seen the series (or if the book would be only new material).

I actually found myself highlighting bits to share with my son. Then I ended up offering to loan it to him. You can't get the humor from an email. Sometimes I feel sorry for Karl. Most of the time I catch myself saying, "You know, he's got a point." I mean, why are we protecting people who annoy diseased monkeys?

Ok, this is no classic. It isn't going to win any literary awards. It's little more than book version of the television series. But it was worth every cent because it just made me laugh, out loud even. It's sweet and harmless and refreshingly not cynical. Plus, Karl is a natural curmudgeon like me. He admits he would have been better off living in a cave before the invention of the see through toaster. His devotion to his girlfriend is also a nice touch in a world of temporary "hook ups".

To paraphrase what Ricky Gervais says on the commercials for the show: Read it. It's funny.

Such a funny book! If you've seen the series, a lot of what is being said in the book will be familiar to you, but it's still a great, light hearted read.

I loved Karl Pilkington with Ricky and Steve and was looking forwards to this book. Sadly, its not well written and very pedestrian. There are a handful of nice anecdotes, but really you are much better off watching the TV show instead.
