Book Description

The tattoos on your heart matter more than the ones on your skin.

Two years ago, Lizard Monroe was Berkeley’s newest delinquent on parole. Now she’s a hot young realtor with a great life, an awesome guy, and enough friends to chase away the ghosts of her past.

The crystal ball has spoken—life isn’t done messing with her yet. And neither is the need brewing in the eyes of the man she loves.

The eve of Halloween approaches. And whatever the sexy poet realtor wants to believe, moving beyond your past isn’t the same as facing the future.

This is the first book in my new Witch Central series, featuring my well-loved clan of modern witches and those who love them. Light contemporary fantasy with a good dose of humor, a little romance, and characters you won't want to leave.

5.0 out of 5 stars Praise the Goddess and Pass the Noodles September 17, 2013
By reader
Format:Kindle Edition
Witch Central lives on. With all it's pranksters, gamers and do-gooders. Two of my most favorite characters are prominent: Lauren and Lizard, along with a cranky old Crystal Ball with a message to tell. All Hallows Eve drraws near and with it come some haunted houses and apparent ghosts. Of course it wouldn't be Witch Central with some of Caro's Kniy-A-Spell regulars acting weirdly ad out of character - if they weren't already full of character.

But something's up and Berkely doesn't feel right. It isn't just Lizard's reaction to the meddling triplets idea for her Halloween costume. But dark things loom among all the pink and glitter that three10 year old girls can dream up - and Lizard has to go back to the "mean streets" (that she thought she had outgrown) in order to find and help someone.

Although a little darker and spookier than Debora's last round of A Modern WitchA Modern Witch (A Modern Witch Series: Book 1). She still writes stories that are relevant, fun engaging. This time around she's showed us a deeper side. She proves that she isn't a one trick pony with the same story to tell in 7 layers, many of which were great. (One, I liked a little less thn the others, but if you love them all equally, then they're all the same)?

No spoilers here. You have to read, the same as I did, to get the good stuff. But it's worth the read. AND it's a strong lead-off for Ms. Geary's next set of books.

A bit of truth: Good or bad review, Ms Geary gifts a copy of her next book as a thank you. So, I didn't purchase this one. Instead it's purchase price will go to the local "Back-Pack" club for kids without enough food. A charity that I know Ms. Geary supports. I still have myself and the God and Goddess to answer to so you can know that this is in no way a paid-for review,

5.0 out of 5 stars I devoured this book! September 18, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I was so happy to find I was not the only reader that devoured this book in one sitting! I could NOT put it down. I laughed, I cried, and I cried some more. if you are new to Debora Geary's work then even though you can read this book as a stand alone I honestly suggest that you start with her WitchLight series. I have each of her books and I have yet to be disappointed. One of the other things I give Ms. Geary kudos on is that all of her books can be loaned. Very smart move as I have lent a couple to 3 different people and now they have purchased the rest! I truly wish more authors allowed lending. Thank you Debora for another wonderful book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Blown away again! September 17, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
OK, full disclosure Debora Geary is a friend on mine even though I have never met her face to face. I have a number of friends who are very good authors and some who are quite famous in the genre I normall y read and they all like my reviews because I am always honest. If they have written a good book then I say so if not isay that as well. So let us begin........................ Even though this book has witches and some magic it is a romance and a coming of age story from Lizard Monroe's (Witches on Parole)point of view. Once again the author reached out to grab the reader by the scruff of the neck and jerked them into the story so deep that this reader never put the book down. An avid reader might devour one or two books by a single author in this manner. Debora Greay has 14 books that are that good. This is not her very best but it is in the top four and in my opinion one of two that opens a mans heart to the finest things in life. Family, friends and those who choose to love and live above the fear of being hurt.
Debora you made me cry a bit with this one, you also made me laugh like a mad man to the point my son came to check on me. Very fine story telling with no reservations. That is as good as it gets, lost in a story until the characters are as real or more real than this world. Thank you.

5.0 out of 5 stars I don't know how she does it September 19, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Another beautiful book on witch central. Love, angst, happiness. Every beautiful imperfection, and the people smart enough to love everything a person needs to be.

This story is about a journey. From fear and insecurity, to hope and knowing you deserve better. I will always read everything and anything Debora Geary writes. So should you. Start with a modern with series, don't forget to read the witchlight trilogy to get a better feel for Lizard' s incredible journey.

Highly recommended. Please don't pass this book up.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not Enough Magic September 20, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I'm a big fan of the Modern Witch books, but this first book in the new series was not nearly as much fun. For me, this was too much romance and too little magic. It did not help that the crystal ball got me hoping for things I would really enjoy seeing in a Debora Geary book. I finally liked it when I was 80% done, but until then I found it rather easy to put down. Just not as compelling as previous volumes. More magic, please. I can get the romance anywhere. That aside, I love Debora's books and will buy the next one as soon as it becomes available.

1.0 out of 5 stars Worse Ever November 4, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I hate to discourage a writer, but I have no choice on this one. I read thousands of books and to be honest, I've never had one that I just could not follow as much as this one. I was literally halfway through and it still could not keep my interest. There were times when I honestly wished I'd gotten it from a lending library, so I could return it. However I have a rule, if I buy it, I finish it. Furthermore it's quite a puzzle how so many people could rate this book highly. The only thing I can figure is they are people who have read previous books with the same characters, so they have that information to rely upon, because character development is decidedly lacking in this book. In my view there are just not enough redeeming qualities here to make it worth a purchase.

I've fallen in love with witch central. The family, friends and chaos of Witch Central is beautifully crazy. Can't wait to read the next book. I might need a nap first tho.
