William Davidson, American History Professor at the University of Illinois, comes into possession of a lost journal that chronicles a previously unknown interview with Abraham Lincoln, given just days before his death. Thrust into a Civil War, Lincoln tells of his own uncertainty and fears. He clings to the Constitution, the very principals our country was founded on for guidance. He tells of his personal struggles dealing with the loss of so many lives and his ultimate task, to reunite the nation. As he sees first hand the human cost of war, the price to him, may be more than he can bear.
