Finally, she ventures to the great plains of Texas and finds what her heart yearns for, only to have everything ripped from her in a shattering turn of events.

Review

An Orphan's Heart is the life story of a young girl searching for love and happiness. The ending will break your heart but give you hope. Lori Crane has quickly become my favorite author and I can't wait to read her next book. This is a five-star book written by a five-star author.

5.0 out of 5 stars Heartwrenching and Beautiful! April 21, 2013
By Reader
Format:Paperback
After reading Okatibee Creek, I wondered if Orphan's Heart would measure up, and Lori Crane did not disappoint. Her second novel is much more of a love story, still set in the rich setting of the old south. I quickly grew to love Ellen and became so invested in her life. I highly recommend this story to anyone who loves history, romance, and the captivating writing of Lori Crane.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing author Amazing read!!!! April 15, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Amazing writting, Lori makes you feel like your right in the story watching everything play out right around you! Both stories she has released in this series have been amazing and I can not wait for the third story to come out. The way she writes makes it extremely hard to put the book down. At the end of each chapter she has you on the edge of your seat wondering what happens next! These books both of them are books you can read more than once and not be bored rereading them! Great job Lori your doing amazing work!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great sequel July 5, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This sequel to Okatibbee Creek about one of it's characters that got lost in the shuffle of the first book is superb. The novel is built around the facts of the character that it is fashioned around. Shoved from pillar to post during the chaos of The Civil War then sent to uncaring relatives she at last finds happiness. I love novels that are based on truth. This woman actually lived through the hardships the author relates. I will watch for more books from this writer.

5.0 out of 5 stars what a good read September 16, 2013
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
Wow this is one unforgettable story, the ending just blew me away!!!!!!!I just finished it and still can`t stop crying. It was a beautiful story, but had some really sad moments.Based on a real person but not really a true to life story,It is fiction based on a real person. You on`t be sorry if you buy this book.I loved the story of her traveling to Ala.Today we wiz around the world in hours in what took them weeks if not months to travel the same distance, its amazing how they made it with so little food and no shelter to speak of except a wagon. The only fault I found in this story is how fast she fell in love and got married, maybe in those days they did but I found it hard to believe, other than that it was a great read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Get the kleenex ready! May 16, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
An Amazing follow up to Okatibbee Creek. When I cried for Mary and her family, I didn't think I could get that involved in another character again. Boy was I wrong! Of course the wait for the follow up is just going to kill me! Bravo Mrs. Crane on another well told story!

5.0 out of 5 stars Love, Love, Love, An Orphan's Heart April 28, 2013
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
Love, Love, Love, An Orphan's Heart. My! My! My! I thought I would savor the next chapter for tomorrow, but no, here is another entertaining one you can not put down. Lori Crane describes real people and their circumstances which reveal their daily lives - humor and romance - historically well-researched and written. An Orphan's Heart is a book of feeling and insight. It is Love. Read it.

I never got the vibe of the time period in which it was set. At the end, it felt like the writer was hurrying up to finish. Really disappointing ending.

4.0 out of 5 stars Sad but poignant
A real page turner. I read the entire book on a 3 hour flight. A true, vivid description of the hardships of life in the late 1800's.
