One of the best,
By John (Canada) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Anachronism (Paperback)
Anachronism is a timeless tale of the highs and lows of living told in a way that will leave you with goosebumps. Truly an original book of poetry, Anachronism is far ahead of it's time. I noticed that this book was published before September 11th and Anachronism plays out almost like a prediction of sorts. The bottom line is that this book is a fantastic peice of work that should not be overlooked.

Anachronism - A glimpse into personal tragedy,
By Daniel Dow (L.A. CA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Anachronism (Paperback)
The mark of a truly adept poet is the ability to use language to remove concrete reality from personal experience and yet leave all the emotional shadings with which a reader can identify. Marie Matteucci has accomplished this in her premier book, Anachronism. Unabashedly scathing, Ms. Matteucci uses personal relationships and episodes from her own life to attack such varying subjects as revenge, the futility of life in the face of mortality, vanity and betrayal with an honesty and anger that leaves one feeling as though you are reading her exposed nerves. Almost refreshing in her fearlessness, she also shows no compunction about turning her fractured perspective inward to lay bare her own idiosyncrasies for whoever cares look. I wholeheartedly recommend this book to anyone interested in poetry with the cliché but appropriate warning, "not for the faint of heart."

This book is a must have for dark poetry lovers. Two favorites are "all the kings" and "ode to my father".

Poetry with no limits,

I've been reading poetry for twenty two years and Anachronism is in my top five list of best poetry books. I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves or even has a slight intrest in poetry.

sensually gritty,
By Yana Abakina (Staten Island, New York) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Anachronism (Paperback)
Anachronism is a sensually gritty collection of poetry that is filled with sincerity, anger, trauma...Matteucci holds nothing back. The poems are filled with a distinctly strong and beautiful personality. Words are used as weapons against injustice and superficiality and shallowness, as well as healing against trauma and pain. This book is defintely recommended to lovers of "real" and captivating words.
In a matter of one reading, she has made it on my personal favorites list.

An Epic,
By Kelly Jensen (Jupiter, Floria) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Anachronism (Paperback)
I started off skeptical as I do when any book gets rave reviews but Anachronism delivers. Upon my second reading of the book I realize there was much that I missed. This is one of those books of poetry that you can find something to relate to, your experiences, your fears and things that you always wanted to say but didn't have the guts. Certainly destended to become a cult classic with dark poetry lovers.

Blow away!,
By Shannon (Seattle, WA) - See all my reviews

Absolutely amazing. Certainly not for the faint of heart. Gripping, suspenseful from start to finish. For anyone who has been through anything painful you can find endless of poems to relate to. I appreciate when a writer doesn't hold back and Marie Matteucci is unstoppable. Note to readers, get a dictionary along with this book. You'll need it.

Reality Intimidated,
By Rebecca Clark (Texas) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Anachronism (Paperback)
Your writing is brilliant. I felt a grip of fear reading what seemed to be a tortured soul splattered on the pages like blood from a cut, placed with precision of an intelligence unknown. There are many sides to each writing. The first appears insane, dementia chopping at the door. Once entered, you can see a child holding a balance containing love on one side hell on the other. Reading on, you feel a sense of unspeakable pain, incomprehensible to the human mind, indirectly explaining how it was, how it is and will be. I see a Mythical beauty looking through a mirror. Many different images are looking back. The mirror has broken lines distorting the beauty there. Reality intimidated.
