4.0 out of 5 stars "with her first film score solo album ~ Nerida Tyson-Chew"
Varese Records presents the Studio Orchestra of Sydney performing "Anacondas:The Hunt for the Blood Orchid", this being her debut score by Nerida Tyson-Chew, under the direction of Phillip Hartl [Concert Master] ~ orchestrations by Bill Boston, Andrew Kinney and Rick Giovinazzo ~ inclusive percussion by Bashiri Johnson and Eric Pershing.

3.0 out of 5 stars Brief excitement
For a soundtrack CD with 20 tracks and over an hour of music, Nerida Tyson-Chew's score for Anacondas often fails to come to life. The only tracks of note are the more gentler cues, which are really quite nice. But I bought this CD expecting non-stop action music. That ain't what I got.

Only the last 2 tracks contain any excitement, the rest are just boring...

The films director Dwight H. Little of "Anacondas:The Hunt for the Blood Orchid" [2004/96 mins] is a sequel to the original "Anaconda" [1997] ~ this time we're looking for a rare black orchid, has the power to keep us living forever ~ beware of being a horticulturist cause there are draw backs ~ one is a very large snake, not just one but others...why did it have to be Anacondas, I really hate those things.

Some stand outs that really grab you are "OPENING TITLES/JUNGLE FLOOR", "IT'S MATING SEASON", "THE CAVERN", "CLIMBING TO THE LIGHT" and "DISCOVERING THE ORCHIDS/FACE OFF", blends the jungle, man vs animal, menacing, gruesome, natural horror and thrills in action, as this full orchestra takes several liberties to scare the living daylights out of you ~ fast pace and non-stop brass, strings and percussion abound completely engulfing the listener into a rapture of terror ~ outstanding debut for Nerida Tyson-Chew, looking forward to more of the same ~ speaking for all the "film-score-buffs" out there...this is just the way we like 'em!

Total Time: 61:07 on 20 Tracks ~ Varese Records 66607 ~ (8/31/2004)

4.0 out of 5 stars A composer of note (4+ stars)., October 4, 2004

This is a terrific film score that works tremendously well with the visuals on screen. If Steven Spielberg reads this, I hope he will strongly consider the versatile and musically-sensitive Ms. Tyson-Chew for "Jurassic Park 4." NTC has the tools and the talent...all she needs now is that major film to move her career into high gear. I have no doubt it will soon happen. For another side of Nerida Tyson-Chew, check out the DVD of the Australian film "Under The Light House Dancing."

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent film score!, December 10, 2004

Easily one of the best film scores of the year and worthy of an Oscar nomination, Newcomer Nerida Tyson-Chew puts together a great score for the film. Her writing is really fantastic and I am so amazed by how suberb her action writing is!The sound is awesome! Its a mazing that this action and horror score was written by a woman! I recommend this score!

Only the last 2 tracks contain any excitement, the rest are just boring with no melody or theme. Quite a disappointment I must say, but still better than Randy Edelman's score for the first film. In fact the Anacondas score more resembles Graeme Revell's score for Freddy vs Jason in regards to the dark but generic horror sound and sparse moments of action.

There are about 5 good tracks on this CD (2,5,6,19,20) but the rest is an unlistenable waste of time. A missed opportunity but a loud thrilling score no doubt.
