Product Description

You really ought to try this Anadama Bread! Each mix makes a large loaf. SAF yeast packets are enclosed. You provide only water and butter/oil. Directions and tips for perfect bread are included. You can make this bread in your bread machine, by hand, or with a stand-type mixer. We've heard all kinds of tales about the origin of Anadama Bread. Most include a story of Anna, the baker's wife, and a little profanity. I don't think anyone knows. It doesn't matter; it's great bread. It's made with an addition of cornmeal and sweetened with molasses. The cornmeal gives it a chewy crunch, almost like an English muffin bread. The molasses gives it just a bit of richness though not enough to make it sweet or the molasses flavor pronounced. The result is a light-colored loaf with more body than most white breads. We think that you will absolutely love this bread. This is a wonderful morning bread, one of the best breads for toast. Served warm with a pat of butter, you'll find it scrumptious. Try it with your favorite soup or toast it and make some great sandwiches. This is a great bread for grilled sandwiches. Try this Anadama Bread.

If I was to be really picky I would say this mix makes a loaf that is not authentic. It is much better! The texture is fine and the flavor is what I remember as a child.
