I'm not sure how popular this album is, but every song on it is great. My only complaint is that it isn't longer! Heavy country and bluegrass influences abound, with plenty of jammy energy. I've seen Al's solo band more than once and I have to admit I think I like them better than Moe. WIth Moe. going on haitus I'm really hoping this band plays a lot of shows. You can't help but compare Al and The Transamericans to Ratdog. Of course it sounds a lot like Moe, but they has a more stripped down rootsy sound. The songs on this album really just come together, and they sound as cohesive as a band who's played together for 20 years.

5.0 out of 5 stars An Unexpected Pleasure, October 7, 2006

I tried this out on my Rhapsody service, while surfing around for vintage/roots sounds. I liked the understated band name and the plain-jane artwork. WELL...surprise! What a fantastic disc! Grateful Dead with a kick in the pants; warm-hearted and laid-back fuzzy, the sound slowly walks in, and gets friendlier as it goes. We should invest in this band, and ask for more.
