Product Description

Amazon.com Product Description

A 2.4 GHz cordless phone from AT&T, the 1477 is a complete communications center, stocked with features such as a built-in answering machine, an internal phone directory, and caller ID/call waiting compatibility. With a 90-number caller ID memory and 50-number telephone directory, you can easily access a list of all the latest incoming calls, as well as store all your important numbers for quick lookup and dialing. Simply scroll to the desired entry and press talk to dial the displayed number. A 10-number speed dial also lets you store the most frequently dialed numbers for even quicker recall. You can assign a distinctive ring to telephone directory entries, providing an auditory indication of the incoming callers identity.

A built-in speakerphone and dual keypads allow you to dial without use of the handset, while headset compatibility enables hands-free communication, helping to save your neck in the process. With the intercom function, you can talk between the base and handset, and three-way conferencing lets both base and handset talk with an outside call. You can easily adjust handset and ringer volume levels, as well as mute your end of the conversation. With the redial button, you can quickly dial the last outgoing number, while a page button lets you find a lost handset without hassle.

The built-in digital answering machine has one mailbox, which has a 15-minute maximum recording time. The maximum message is 4 minutes, and you can record an outgoing message of up to 90 seconds. With memo recording, you can record a note to yourself or leave a message for another household member. When you are away from home, you can still stay in touch by utilizing the remote access feature. Simply log in with your security code and use your keypad to playback and delete messages, record a new outgoing message, or leave yourself a memo. The 1477 is also wall-mountable and comes backed with a one-year limited warranty.

3.0 out of 5 stars Overall good. Handset volume not enough., January 15, 2006

This review is from: AT&T 1477 2.4 GHz Analog Cordless Phone with Answering System and Caller ID (Black/Silver) (Office Product)
Overall, the phone is good for its price. You get a decent amount of features. The only drawback is that volume on the handset is not loud enough, even if I have the handset volume set to the highest level. I have a noisy house and I need to hide in a closet to speak to someone. Other phones that I have owned do not have this problem.

2.0 out of 5 stars A waste of money at half the price, September 27, 2006
This review is from: AT&T 1477 2.4 GHz Analog Cordless Phone with Answering System and Caller ID (Black/Silver) (Office Product)
I bought this phone at a major retail store on clearance for $25, and I was initially pleased because I like AT&T phones, and I don't need lots of bells and whistles. All the features it describes are there and the speakerphone works well, hence my generous 2 star rating. But the extremely frustrating low volume from the handset is inexcusable, and I DON'T have a noisy house. I'd developed cauliflower ear from trying to hear what the person on the other end is saying. There's also an annoying flashing red light at the top that blinks after each new message (separate from the New Message flashing lighted button) that can only be halted by hitting the last incoming call CID check button- I see no reason for this feature. Trust me, buy anything else.
