This hygrometer is inexpensive, and you can calibrate it any time you want. I own several of them, and have them placed in areas where I need to know what the humidity is. They function well.

I bought this as a gift for my father-in-law. He needed to know the humidity in order to regulate his humidifier. He is very pleased with this product. It works without a battery; and a battery is one more hassle and expense to worry about.

Thats what it is. Simple, inexpensive. Magnetic mount, or sticky, it can be placed just about anywhere. It has a classy look about it, like you would put it in your humidor, but I am not a cigar aficianado, I just wanted to measure the relative humidity in an analog fashion. So whatever your curiosity with humidity, this is your gauge.

Unscripted, unedited review of Western Digital analog humidity gauge with mention of the Boveda one-step calibration kit.

I have received this hygrometer and tested it yesterday using the salt in a sealed container method. You can research how to do this online.
I checked it after 12 and 24 hours and the needle was dead on 75% humidity as it should be. Very accurate and very inexpensive. My only regret is that I only purchased one.

Sometimes it does not work well,

Generally, it works well. But if you put it in a high-humidity environment, some water vapor probably may enter it through the holes on its edge, resulting in its failure to work. When you encounter this situation, you can put it into direct sunshine or somewhere with hot temperature to let the water vapor disappear. And after done, the product will work again.
BTW: it works better (I mean, accurately) than some digital products with similar price.

This is a cheaply made hygrometer. I bought a one step calibration humidipak to make sure that the two analog hygrometers were right on the money. 3 % difference between both units. The bad part is the calibration. Theres a lever in the back of the unit (under the magnet). It is way too easy to bend. That make it virtualy impossible to calibrate afterward. 1 unit down after calibration. I should have know better:"you get what you pay for". You better off buying those things locally so you can return them and not pay 7 dollars in S&H. really not worth it.

Just got this today. Didnt realize from the picture how tiny this thing was. Not much bigger than a silver dollar. In order to read this you have to be pretty close. Bought it to use in the basement. Better suited to a humidor. Adding the size of this in the description would have been nice. Not a great bargain IMO.

This unit worked great for maybe a year, and now I noticed recently it's stuck on 65%. So you get what you pay for. I'm not sure why it stopped working, but it did.

Wasted money,

I purchased this as my first hygrometer to go in my new humidor. I put it in a plastic bag with a small dish of the moist salt mixture to get the humidity in the bag to 75%. When I put the screwdriver in the back to turn the reading from 60% to 75%, it stopped around 68% and wouldn't adjust any higher. My screwdriver actually bent the flimsy metal a bit before I decided a moment later that this hygrometer is total junk. I wasted my money trying this product because most of the reviews say it's a pretty good hygrometer. Taking the cap off the top and removing the face reminds me of a 6th grade science project on humidity. To replace this one which I got yesterday, I'll go to the cigar shop here in town to get a good hygrometer. Had I found this in a store and picked it up, I would not have bought it because the metal feels like reinforced aluminum foil.
