It tunes digital channels only. Analog channels are those that a "cable-ready" analog TV of yesteryear could tune in. My cable company still provides 50 or 60 analog channels, and I can connect my old analog TV directly to the cable and tune the channels. To get the digital channels, I need to use a cablebox. The cable box receives both analog and digital signals and converts the digital to analog for viewing on my old analog set. If I had a digital TV, I would have to get a different cable box which would receive both analog and digital signals and convert the analog signals to digital. The HDHomeRun PRIME functions like the latter, except that it doesn't receive analog signals.
