3.0 out of 5 stars Analysis For Financial Management
The book was received in great condition. However, this was for a course I was taking so I am just not interested in the literature.

5.0 out of 5 stars For those who want to know the real stuff behind the financial numbers, August 22, 2009
This review is from: Analysis for Financial Management with S&P bind-in card (McGraw-Hill/Irwin Series in Finance, Insurance and Real Estate) (Paperback)
What this book is NOT: This book is not a detailed treatise on financial statements, ratios and how to create financial statements

What this book IS: This book tells you what is behind the numbers. And it does it really really well. It introduces the key ratios in the beginning and from then on, the chapters delve into various aspects of the key financial statements. It provides real life data using financial numbers of real companies. It deals with everything from what drives (operationally) the numbers and ratios; what kinds of capital a company can raise; valuation among other things.

I highly recommend this book for anyone looking to understand whats behind the numbers and how to effectively analyze issues within the company that impact the financial statements.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Text!, September 9, 2010
This review is from: Analysis for Financial Management with S&P bind-in card (McGraw-Hill/Irwin Series in Finance, Insurance and Real Estate) (Paperback)
This is by far one of the best financial management books that I've read. Higgins does an excellent job applying financial theory to real-world business problems. His text includes many rich, detailed discussions surrounding many widely-used financial models taken for granted, including but not limited to the weighted average cost of capital and the capital asset pricing model, that you will not find in your typical financial management text. Plus, he's a great writer with a great sense of humor!

4.0 out of 5 stars Fundamentals and fun, October 7, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I purchased this book because it was required for a "Finance for Lawyers" course that I enrolled in during my third year of law school. The book can ramble on at times, but devotes enough time to the basics that those without a financial background have the ability to "catch up" in the early portions of the book, before it becomes too daunting or confusing.

Whether this book is assigned for class, or you just want some light reading on the plane, this book should do the trick.

Just cracked through the first three chapters of this book. It's an excellent work. I am just an individual who is learning some basic accounting knowledge by myself. Anyone can tell me where do I get the answers to those even number questions. I didnt find anything on the website provided. Thanks.

Higgins is definitely the most instructive and easy to follow Finance books I've read. I'm currently using Brealey-Myers-Allen, and Higgins, and definitely recommend the latter.
