Researchers often do not analyze nonreplicated experiments statistically because they are unfamiliar with existing statistical methods that may be applicable. Analysis of Messy Data, Volume II details the statistical methods appropriate for nonreplicated experiments and explores ways to use statistical software to make the required computations feasible.

5.0 out of 5 stars handling messy data in nonreplicated designs, February 25, 2008
This review is from: Analysis of Messy Data, Volume II: Nonreplicated Experiments (Hardcover)
In many engineering studies experiments are conducted without any replication of a particular experimental condition. In such cases variability conditioned on a specific value for the experimental factors cannot be estimated. But model effects such as the main effects and interactions can be. This includes the unreplicated factorial and fractional factorial experiments as well as complete and incomplete randomized designs. The authors cover what is known to handle messy data in these type of designs. This book is the second in a series of three books by these fine applied academic statisticians. It is more concise than the first, probably in part because of the limited development of theory and methods for this type of data. These books are one of a kind and consequently are heavily referenced in other texts and journal articles,

Many experiments are very expensive to conduct so that experimenters are often forced to limit the number of treatment combinations that can be studied in order to have adequate resources available to replicate the treatment combinations under study. Read the first page
