0874208858 978-0874208856 March 22, 2002
Written by a leading authority, this book examines the complexities of seniors' housing markets and explains what developers, investors, and other professionals need to know to understand and operate in these specialized niches. Beginning with a historical overview of seniors' housing, to familiarize the reader with the various product types and how they relate to the needs of seniors, the book goes on to explain the details of market analysis, consumer research, market segmentation, financial analysis, market maturation versus market saturation, and gauging performance of seniors' housing. Three case studies of regional markets are also included comparing the development trends of both independent and assisted living within each market.

4.0 out of 5 stars Market Analysis tool, February 2, 2010

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Analyzing Seniors' Housing Markets (Hardcover)
I purchased this book to guide me through a market feasibility analysis for my business plan to open 8 Assisted Living campuses in the next 10 years. It is a great reference guide and gave me everything I needed to create a nice business plan. I ended up hiring a company to create the feasibility study and used this book to explain to me, and the readers of my business plan, what data is collected, why it is important and what the results are. There is also a lot of background information I used that saved me a lot of time, such as trends in the AL market, critical care givers, demographic data interpretation, etc.

This is the only book I purchased to help me with my business plan so I can't compare it to others, but I found everything I needed under one cover, and to me that says a lot. Also the information is up to date, a claim many other reference books cannot claim. I highly recommend this if you are looking into interpreting a feasibility study, or commissioning one.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Book, November 23, 2008
This review is from: Analyzing Seniors' Housing Markets (Hardcover)
I purchased this book to help with my thesis project in Planning and Architecture. The book is a great resource to have on hand. It describes elements that you will need when planning and designing a Retirement Community building or campus. I would recommend this book to anyone who is starting to plan and/or design for a Senior Community.
