Tree diagrams are clearly explained and used throughout to help the reader visualise the hierarchical structure of sentences. The final chapter sets the analysis within the context of generative grammar and language study in general.

i guess if you never went through grade school in the US this would be a good book for you but it was certainly useless for me. i give it two stars as opposed to one, because the content of the book is good if it is exactly what you are looking for.
